Perfect for my needs
I have a music server with external hard drive . It's linked via WiFi to my pc and the software on ipad.Servers have the habit of going missing on windows without reason and transferring new files over WiFi is tediously slow.Possible solution?A usb splitter that hardwires to pc and network bridge.Hey presto this little gadget works perfectly. The switch is exactly what's required. This works first time and requires no setting up. The server updates and pc communicates without issue.Highly recommended for those who want a simple and cheap solution.

Fantastic exactly what I needed
This is exactly what I was after as I have a work and personal laptop on the same desk so I wanted to flip the key hardware (mouse printer keyboard etc) between personal and work laptop. I plugged the female end into a usb hub to control all the various devices and the two male ends into each computer. Works perfectly and just a switch to flip between each pc. Solved my issue of unplugging and replugging in usb perfectly.

Spot on for my needs but has issues and has failed within a year
This product is spot on.Firstly this is not a paid review.I needed to connect my USB hub with my mouse, keyboard and headset To both my works laptop and my personal desktop. This cable connects to one USB on the laptop and one USB on the desktop, cables are nice and long before the switch and it’s a nice length after, the female connection has my USB hub connected and it all works great. No drivers needed to install just turned on the PC’s and it was working.A Click of the switch and I can switch between computers. Without the constant irritation of unplugging and reconnecting the hub. This of course will over time cause issues with the cable and connectors.I didn’t need all the extra stuff I get with a KVM this is the best solution for my needs. It is USB 2.0 and my hub is 3.0 but for mouse keyboard and headset it’s fine.I have tested with my portable usb3.0 dive and it works fine at around 25-30MB/s so 40GB will take about 30 Microsoft minutes.I haven’t been able to test it with a Mac but I would think it would work fine.Cable sizes are estimated as I can not speak for the size for all cables supplied but my ones are female to switch 500mm. The switch to male is 1000mm for each. The switch housing is about 50mm long and 30mm wide. I’ve added a picture of the switch as it is big and chunky.**** update ****Over the last few days I have noticed intermittent connection to my USB hub. Not sure what the issue is but I have been able to rule out the hub. This means that it has to be this switch. As the return period has ended I now need to look at options. This was great for the 2.5 months that it worked fine and then it gradually broke down. I have disconnected it and will try further troubleshooting to see if I can get it working again.**** Update 2 *****Following various updates and testing on other device this product has now put in my failed pile. Through the six months I have had it it worked well in the beginning. I think it got warm over the summer and unfortunately this started the failures. It is a shame as it was perfect when it worked. I have now updated this to a USB 3.0 switch selector.
