Inexpensive poached egg pan works great!! THUMBS UP!
I read many negative comments about this poached egg pan, but I found the comments to be unsubstantiated and for $13 I was looking for an early a.m. egg poacher so I could make some tasty egg dishes for lunch. None-the-less the pan has been fantastic and with a little aerosol butter spray my eggs are absolutely fantastic. Now remember I said this was a $13 poached egg pan and most certainly there are more sturdy and Better Built poached egg pans than this one. But using it a couple of times a week for egg preparation variations this works great! My foolproof method is let the water boil, send over on the counter I have the egg rack with be filled cups that I place in the pan using the lid to cover the whole experience and after 5 minutes on a hard boil I turn my stove down to low and set the timer for 6 minutes and you have perfect eggs and no melted cups. I highly recommend this items simply for the fact that you can't beat the price when other poached egg pan are 30 40 and $50.

follow the instructions
I didn't read the reviews until after the purchase. I experienced the most reported complaint of the egg sticking to the cup. I think most people, myself included, think that steam pouring out of the pan means the egg is cooking. That is not the case. It instructs you to use low to medium heat. I used medium first and I still had a little sticking. I lowered the heat and I had a better result. Finally I put olive oil in the cup, not coating it but dumping it in, and the eggs come out great and they pop out without any assistance of a spoon or fork. That is my experience.

Good value
This pan comes with a lid, four plastic cups to hold eggs, and a tray insert to hold the plastic cups. No one would mistake this for a $100 pan, but it's sturdy enough and has worn well through multiple uses and trips through the dishwasher. The eggs turn out fine, though probably not as evenly cooked through as in my electric two-egg poacher. The cups accommodate large and extra-large eggs. A few things to be aware of . . .* The lid isn't transparent, so you will need to lift it, releasing steam and pressure, to check the eggs.* The handle on the lid gets hot, so you'll need to use a pot holder or equivalent to lift it off to check your eggs.* The pan doesn't come with assembly instructions. The only assembly is to attach the handle to the lid, which is not rocket science but also isn't completely intuitive.* There aren't any water fill lines or any instructions for how much water to add or how long to cook to get eggs to a certain doneness. You'll have to figure it out by trial and error.* I haven't been greasing the plastic cups (e.g., with butter) before putting the eggs in them, but I've found that presoaking them before running them through the dishwasher results in clean cups.Overall, I wanted an inexpensive way to easily poach four eggs at a time, and this fits the bill.

Learning curve
Today is May 29, I purchased this April 6.I wanted to really test it before sharing with you. It took me six tries to get it right, but I did! Eggs Benny.First, remove all cups, then add hot water and lots of salt. Wait for the water to boil. Take a paper towel and spray the nonstick spray get it wet. Place the towel all around until all the cups are well lubricated. Then spay again into the cups, place one egg into each cup and place all cups into the pot. Cover and wait 4 minutes (No more than 4 minutes, 3 minutes is good too) then remove with a rubber fork or spatula. Works perfectly every time.UPDATE: 8/29/22 16 months and STILL works like new, even though I brought it used.

So So Quality
I had one of these in 1985 and that one was far better quality. This one has all plastic cups the other one had all aluminum cups. With this one you cannot use non stick cooking spray and it takes 20 mins. to cook the egg. The old one took half that time because metal heats better. Too bad faberwear has cheapened their product. The cups are hard to clean and you need to use a butter knife to get your egg out.

Horrible design and slow to cook
What's to like? First of all, I have a cheap Walmart single egg poacher which takes 1 min 48 secs to properly cook an "over easy" egg - firm white with a runny yolk. This one takes close to 15 minutes for one - or all - eggs to cook. The plastic cups are insulators rather than conductors of heat so they really slow the cooking process down. I have actually cooked 4 eggs in my single cooker in less time than one egg in this. Also, the knob on the cover is poorly designed resulting in a painfully hot grip. I used to own an older version of this with aluminum cups and a knob that didn't burn your fingers. Wish I still had it but happier with my Walmart chaapie.

Love It! As close to the old style as you can get.
I have own this egg poacher for 8 months now. I love it! It cooks up just like when I was a kid. I spread the tiniest amt. of soft butter on the inside of the cup/s break my egg into the cup. Sprinkle a bit of Cayenne on the egg. Once it's cooked to what I like I use a small potholder to remove the cup. Within moments I can grab the holder by hand. I use a small edge style rubber spatula to loosen the edge. Also I hold the spatula across the cup to spill out any condensation. (I don't like wet toast or English muffin half.) :) Also very easy clean up. I wash by hand, which takes a minute, as those cups are light and I would probably have to fish the remains out of the bottom of the dishwasher. dishwasher hates me. Really it does.

Great poacher, I recommend this one
It’s smaller than my 70’s version and that’s ok. The cups come out individually (also better than the 70’s version when you had to spoon them out) and makes the perfect shape on toast. I love if, highly recommend this one and it was reasonably priced.

Great eggs
Did a superb job of poaching the eggs, only negative was that the eggs did stick to the plastic cups and had to be loosened with a rubber spatula. Next time I will give them a small oil spray first to see if that helps.
