HP Chromebook 14-inch HD Laptop, Intel Celeron N4000, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB eMMC, Chrome (14a-na0020nr, Ceramic White)

We haven't had the Chromebook for long, so this review would be subject to change. (As of 09/08/21) We bought this for my wife, who uses it primarily for emails and web search, etc.. Simple to use and much faster than the laptop she had been using. I read reviews on a lot of Chromebooks in this price range before we made the purchase and I think it was the right choice. Screen quality is very good. Lightweight. Holds charge for a long time. I think the only negative is that sometimes the keys are difficult to read in the wrong light. However, they are backlit, so there's a plus. So far, this has been an excellent value. I can easily recommend it.

I bought this 14-inch Chromebook and honestly, I was surprised. It’s very beautiful, lightweight, and fast. The design is modern and elegant, and it’s super easy to carry around. The screen is a great size and looks sharp—perfect for studying, working, or watching videos. Chrome OS runs very smoothly and boots up super fast. It’s ideal for everyday tasks like browsing the web, writing, using Google Docs, and more. Another big plus is the battery life: it lasts several hours without needing to charge. I also love how well it integrates with all Google services like Drive, Gmail, and YouTube. In short: this is an excellent choice if you’re looking for something functional, stylish, and affordable. I bought this to replace my wife's 7-year-old HP 14" chromebook. I'm happy to say that this is lighter, has more memory, and is faster than the old machine. The screen is also better although it is only HD and not a touchscreen. Viewing Youtube videos on this screen works fine. I recommend this device for anyone who wants a basic chromebook with a 14" screen.

I gave this product 4 stars because now that its finally connected to wifi its quite nice. The 14in screen is perfect for me. Not too small or too big. The 1080 HD is definitely worth it. Great sharpness and clarity when it comes to picture quality. I love the keyboard. Keys are soft touch keys and don't make a lot of noise and the backlight of the keys is a nice touch. For a good 24hrs the product has stayed connected to wifi. But after opening it and turning it on, it took several hours of getting it to stay connected. It would find my network, connect and within minutes it would unconnect. After much research, I learned that this unit only had Chrome OS 79 version. Chrome is now at version 81, so that may have helped the problem. I may still contact HP to discuss the issue and see what light they can shed on it. I called my internet provider and all internet connections are good. I have never had any issues with any device in my home connecting to my wifi. So fingers crossed this nice Chromebook stays connected!

This Device Was recieved on Monday March 5,2021, as promised. This new unit, booted up right away after putting in my SSID and Password. A word of advise make sure you use caps when needed. This review is being completed on my new HP Chromebook now seemingly fully functional. Please forgive my spelling errors as this is the first time using this device and the shortcuts, I have yet to learn. The reason this Chomebook is my chorse for now, is that google says all work is in the cloud and therefore reduces viruses, on that we shall see. Another reason is that the battery life is reported as being 13 hours of continuous use, again we shaal see. As of now I have no complaints. However expect an update soon. UPDATE.....Tuesday April 26, 2022 I have been using this Chromebook for a year and feel that this is an investment that was well worth every penny that I spend All that was promised has been achieved. I have experienced what this unit can do. I am glad of my choice. The battery life on my Chromebook is great. When you close the lid it shuts down and saves the battery with almost no battery drain until you reopen and your work is still there waiting for you. You can login to any wifi but you should have a good VPN to protect you ass you travel. 😘

For me, it's easier to use for banking and word processing than cellphone which were reasons for acquiring tablet.

Pros: Nice build and feel, great speakers, simple setup, great value Cons: Within a few minutes of connecting to my wifi, it killed the internet connections to all other devices including its own connection. We have a rather common modem/router, the Arris panoramic models you get on rental from Comcast or Cox, in the west. After working with Amazon and then HP support, it became evident the issue is a modem driver within the computer needing to be updated. HP support claimed it was a known issue with my router/modem -- yet they didn't troubleshoot it and didn't ask which manufacturer/model device I had. In theory, the problem (a driver) is fixable..... if you can get the driver downloaded and added to the computer. In this case, this chromebook does not have an ethernet port -- so there's no actual way to install the driver and address the problem without loading it on a USB drive, downloaded from another computer, or sending in the computer for repair. Summary: You may have a modem or router that doesn't conflict or have a driver issue and be perfectly fine. I wasn't able to experience much beyond the handful of minutes it would be connected. However, there's no way to know in advance if you will encounter this problem or not. If you're willing to risk it and have the time to a) work with support or find/load the driver yourself, and/or b) return the device (stick to the 30 day window), then proceed with caution. Otherwise, I recommend passing on this and going with something else. For reference, in our situation we ended up going with a Lenovo C340 Chromebook for just a little bit more money with a better processor, more RAM, bigger screen (a flipable touchscreen). My router/model and internet connection have been fine with the Lenovo.

I have had good luck with HP computers in the past, and this Chromebook is working very well for me (after a few months of use). There was a bit of a learning curve, but that would be the case with any Chromebook, if you aren't familiar with using a laptop. All-in-all, I am very satisfied with it. I use it only for getting online (email and Facebook and browsing), and it works quite well for that. I don't do Zoom, but I'm sure it would work well for that, as well. The quality for the lower price is great!
