Throw your money away with confidence. Craptastic quality!! (See pics)
With so many 5 star reviews, how could you go wrong? That's what I keep asking myself.- The hammer head is mounted at such an angle, I thought I purchased a right handed hammer.- The side-walls are not uniform in thickness.- I decided to test the hardness by gently striking this with my 1oz hammer, instant flat spot, which was followed by audible laughter. I seriously think they skipped the hardening stage in the manufacturing process. Hey! Maybe they inadvertently annealed the head when they coated it with the shiny stuff.* So, what will I do with this abomination? I dunno (sic) I think I'll make my own hammer head and re-work the handle. I'll keep the hammer head and put it in a tiny frame, that way people can ask me about it and I can tell them about The Bead Smith's quality control.

Chasing hammer
I was amazed at the light weight of it. It looked heavier and sturdier in the pic. But, nevertheless, it works! Thank you.

mine was in good shape and did a nice job of work-hardening and flattening copper wire constructions
I am just getting started using wire and metal in my jewelry making. I have a wire wrapping book that suggested using a chasing hammer to flatten some wire motifs you make for one of the projects, so I bought this. I realize it isn't top of the line, but it was within my price range and I didn't want to spend top dollar when I wasn't even sure I would like the hobby of wire wrapping. As it turns out, I do like wire wrapping. I especially like hammering things flat. Perhaps I have some aggression I need to get out? Anyway, I used this to pound a bunch of various copper wire spirals and other constructions flat (I originally made them with dead soft round wire). It helped work harden them, plus it is not as heavy as my one pound brass headed hammer, so it is a bit easier for me to work with. (For hammering, I put down a mouse pad to dampen vibrations and then on top of that, I put a steel bench block.)I have had no issues with the quality of this product so far. (Mine is from Beadaholique.) The handle is securely fastened to the head and mine does NOT have a chrome finish but seems to be solid steel based on weight, appearance, and performance. The handle is not splitting or cracking and looks like a nice, solid piece of wood.I did want to point out that the larger side of the hammer's head is not domed. It is quite flat. This *may* cause issues with edge marks showing if you are hammering something larger than the rounded part, but it was not a problem for me because I was hammering little spirals and other wire motifs. (The smaller side is rounded and you can hammer with that if you want.) It is comfortable to hold in my hands (I am a small-framed, small-boned woman). At some point, I will probably upgrade, but for now, this is perfectly suitable for my needs.

Chasing Hammer
I use it for making wire wrapped jewelry. I don't have a problem with the product at all! I DO however have a problem with the delivery. My front door was left open WITH a sign that hangs on the door in plain sight and instructions through the order process to please place deliveries inside the front door. They left it on the stoop, even though this item would have survived rains, I'm really glad it wasn't something that wouldn't have.
