Sticks across the Chimney: a story of Denmark

Read this aloud to my 10 year-old son and we both absolutely loved it- it really kindled an interest in Vikings and grave mounds for him, would highly recommend!

What a delight this book was! I have been reading aloud to my kids for years, but somehow this stayed below my radar till recently when I was perusing Sonlight curriculums book lists for one of my kids. It sounded good, so I got it. I loved the inventiveness and ingenuity and the perseverance of the children, and how they made their own “luck”. There’s lots of wisdom and lessons thrown in, but in an exciting and happy story line. I read it to my six- and ten-year-olds and both enjoyed it,

This story is so well written and tight! I loved the characters ~ their ingenuity and resourcefulness and perseverance. My kids and I about cried when it was over. It also just builds your faith that God is truly working all things out for those who love Him and are called according to his purpose. This book shows a Christian's journey: setbacks, persecution, blessings, and tender provisions. A slice of heaven on earth. It is a keeper!

Great story for 9-10 year olds

a book we'd never heard of but now count as one of the best children's stories we have ever read. A must read with Viking history and a lot of drama

Wonderful engaging story. My 7 year old daughter begged me to keep reading and I enjoyed it as much as she did.
