Pros: affordable, super easy to “install”, nice material, arrived quickly, looks way better than expectedCons: none yet (will report back in durability later if they do not hold up)I bought these because my dogs were slipping down the hardwood stairs. I had done research on fancier options but I was honestly too lazy to get the measuring tape out and didn’t want to spend too much money on this. I bought these expecting it to look super cheap and horrible, but at a $40 price point I wouldn’t care (and I especially wouldn’t care if it helped my dogs walk on the stairs easier) but these actually look pretty nice! These arrived in the evening and I had it all laid on the stairs within 5-10 min. It was soooo easy. I saw some other carpet options where it is actually a sticky adhesive and you have to very carefully install them and use other tools to make sure it looks perfect but I hated the idea of all that effort. Also those made me nervous that they would say it’s “safe for hardwood/vinyl flooring” but then when you take them off you are left with residue or damage. So I was really excited about these because they are not sticky at all but somehow stay in place 100%. Because these are fresh out the box in these photos you may see a couple spots in the middle where it looks like it’s popping up, well it is but it’s because that’s where they were folded in the box upon delivery. I think that after some time being walked on it will flatten out great. I also didn’t clean the stairs before installing them. If I would have vacuumed and mopped first they might not have this issue. Anywho, even with my janky install they don’t move, and you won’t trip on them, but if you are suuuper observant and picky the middle bump may bug you. I love that you can easily lift them up and move them if you need to fix the alignment when installing. I think I read that you can even wash them?! I’m nervous to try that so I may just hand wash or spot treat them if necessary.

I'm surprised an delighted that these stair treads were so easy to install, and have remained securely in place on my wood stairs for more than a month. There is no indication that the adhesion is lessening, even with thorough weekly vacuuming and lots and lots of feet on them daily. I purchased these in the hope that I could provide my aging dog more stability on the stairs, since he insists on going up and down several times a day on his own (we tried carrying him but he wasn't having that). Since installing them, he has not fallen, and when he walks up and down the stairs, he has a significantly more confident gait.If I were to make one suggestion, I would love if the company would provide a template for easier installation of the treads (so that they are centered). I ended up using a couple of 3x5 cards to make templates for the corners of the stairs, so I could align the treads the same for each step. Having made my own templates, it took perhaps 10 minutes for me to lay and adhere these treads to my 12 wooden steps.I gave only four stars for "Easy to Clean" because I can only speak to weekly vacuuming. We have not had to spot clean or scrub these treads yet, so I cannot say how well they would hold up to that type of cleaning. With vacuuming, they have NOT come loose from the stairs, which frankly surprised me.For the quality of life they've given my sweet doggie, they're worth every penny. But I've also noticed that I am more confident on the stairs, since we don't wear shoes inside our home.

I live in a home that is close to 130 years old. The stairs are uncarpeted, and not in the greatest shape. Functional, but one of the stairs had a crack in the wood running almost the entire length of it. In addition to that, there were a couple nail heads that weren’t quite hammered down all the way and sticking up just enough to stub a toe on. The nail heads in question were located along the edges, unlikely to be stepped on but still an Invitation for injury. Not to mention that socks on feet running down or up bare wooden stairs could potentially cause injury as well. As a renter my options to make changes are limited. These stair treads were an excellent solution. I did not need to cut any of them down to fit, but it was nice to have that option. The adhesive backing is light but sufficient, and adheres well enough. The lightness of the adhesive is forgiving, very easy to lift the tread back up to re-position if needed. For me, that removed any pressure or stress about getting it right the first time. Having said that, the downside of a light adhesive is that the corners of them have a tendency to pop up a little bit at times. Standing on the offending corner for a minute is all that is needed. The light gray color is as described. The treads are utilitarian, so while they aren’t going to be the softest, they are soft enough on bare feet and get the job done. The built in ridges also help to remove dirt and debris. My dog had an accident on one of the treads, absolutely soaking it with urine which discolored it. After cleaning it with not even a whole lot of effort - you’d never know it ever happened. Overall, I’d recommend this set of stair treads. Good value for the money, renter friendly and not having to purchase anything separately to hold them in place is worth its weight in gold.

I cannot believe how well these stair treads work. My home office is upstairs while the kitchen (and bathroom!) are downstairs. I make multiple trips up and down throughout the day and these treads have not come off or even moved. They did arrive folded in half to fit within the shipping box, but after laying them out, they relaxed after a couple days. They have held up to shoes, boots, and bare feet. Very easy to lift up for cleaning, yet they leave no residue on the steps! A great product that has become a necessity for safety in my home.

These are very nice looking stair runners. The self stick backing makes them easy to install and they grip so well I didn't need to fasten them down with carpet tax or staples. Love the way they look.
