Q: is the glass amber color? and what is the actual size of the bulb?

I like them they go perfect with the fan I gotten

Q: Do these hurt your eyes to look at? I bought incandescent ones that hurt if I glance at the light.

They appear like 40 watt amber color incandescent lights. There is no flicker, either. Easy on the eyes.

Soft white. Not yellow but kind of in that family. Not clear or bright at all.

Q: Are the filaments in the bulbs suppose to still glow after the lights are turned off. They glow all the time when off

No they do not glow after they turn off. Suggest you put voltage meter on wire after you turn off electricity to see if you have power leak. Also, I took a second look and mine and they tend to have a reflective tendency from other light sources near by.
