Baroque Inventions

Julian Gray and Ronald Pearl have combined their respective skills as guitarists to give us a sublime album. The music all sounds fresh and full of vitality. The arrangements here suit the guitar perfectly. More often than not, I do not appreciate transcriptions like this. But here, well, it's different. The Scarlatti is outstandingly effective. We hear wonderful detail and emotion coming forth from our guitar soloists. My personal favorite piece on the disc is the Chaconne, which was written by Handel. This is not to mention the Bach 5th French Suite, which is given a relaxing, yet exuberating approach. This album is certainly worth the buy.

This is an astonishingly beautiful album. Virtuosos with a lot of heart. The Handel chaconne is celestial. Highly recommended. Buy it!
