I purchased this kit for a different brand of rock tumbler and I am currently still in the tumbling process. When I opened the box I was shocked by two things. First, I received higher quality stones than expected. Even in their rough states, I could tell that they would all turn out beautiful. This kit includes the most amazing stones any hobbyist could ever want. Also, there were twice as many stones as could fit in my brand of tumbler, so I got a two-for-one bonus by accident. My expectations were exceeded. I assumed the kit would include a few small okay-looking stones and the rest would be disappointing. Not so! The manufacturers include huge, beautiful stones in this kit. I've used another kit that included really lackluster and not-so-pretty stones, but the quality of this product blew my mind. I expected half as many stones, each at half the size, and maybe altogether the stones would be pretty lame. Maybe a few would be pretty. Even though I'm far from done tumbling this kit, I can already tell that my stones will all be beautiful. This kit is the one to buy, even if your tumbler is of a different brand.That said, the other thing I noticed is that the kit does not include any instructions, which can be troublesome for those like me who purchase this kit for another brand of tumbler. Not a problem, though, as a quick Google search and my own judgement of the stones after each cycle will be sufficient to get the results I desire. It's the nature of the craft, anyway. More of an art than a science, as no two stones will ever be alike. I will definitely purchase this again! (Note: pictures included in review depict half of the stones in the kit prior to tumbling, and the other half of the stones after the first grit cycle.)

Super fun box to receive! There is a pleasing variety of stones in generous sizes, including three tiger eyes (my favorite) and several gorgeous agates. I appreciate that I received colorful gem quality roughs, not just a box of cheap colorless quartz. I’m eager to see the final results! Loading up the tumbler today! Although I already had some grit on hand, I appreciate the grit set included in the box. You can never have too much. The jewelry settings are rather basic, perfect for children’s activities, but for adult projects it would be better to buy higher quality settings at a craft store. Glue is not included. You will need to buy some. And the gem booklet is very informative. Overall I will say that this kit is well worth the price, because after a day of grudging through job and home demands, working with these stones puts a smile on my face. And that’s worth a lot!

Love being able to get a refill kit. My 11 year old got a tumbler a few years ago and used all the rocks. My 7 year old wanted to get to do it this year so all I needed was more rocks. Great extra little gift for Christmas and getting more use out of the tumbler!

I purchased this for my daughter and together we processed a bunch of stones into nicely polished and rounded gems. I have a high regard for National Geographic branded items, and this is no exception. While loud, it is quiet compared to some other models. Its simple design is easy to use and has been leak and worry free for us for some time already. Very happy with this purchase.

These stones tumble and polish very nicely. I enjoy watching the colors come out. My grandkids are enjoying it alot with me. Good purchase.

These stones polished up nice and it was great seeing them all the stages of tumbling. Recommend for all ages.

Very well produced and well packed. Comprehensive kit, with easy to follow instructions, making it easy to use and set up. One thing I didn't realise was it would take so long to produce the finished items. Each stage, there are five, takes several days to run. So don't expect rapid results. It is worth the wait for the drum to stop turning, seeing the magical change in the stones is wonderful. Great piece of kit and glad I bought it. Grandchildren love it.

Great, lots of cool rocks and the necklace holders do hold up once you put a rock in. You can even change out the rock for a different necklace look each day if you want. The extra grit is always appreciated. Didn’t get any amethyst in my kit though so maybe make sure at least one of each rock type that’s advertised is in the kit. Other than that nice sizeable rocks and great equipment and grit 👌
