A great addition to Endurance training books.
The book does a good job covering all areas of training and preparing and competing. A book I like a little more is the Snyder-Smith book "The complete guide to endurance riding and competition"I would like to mention a few areas they seem to assume all would already have well in hand.Ground training. In-hand training. Working at developing a true balanced athlete.Implemented for centuries. Seemingly forgotten by current horse owners. Many people seem to be under the misguided thought that classical training is for those only interested in Dressage.I argue Dressage training is the foundations for all other activities. If you care for the health of your horse, if you care to do the best you can in ANY discipline, this is necessary. And lastly, not least, is natural hoof care. next few years will show its age, by its very heavy covering of shoeing concepts. Soon to be seen as torturous and outdated.Look to Natural barefoot hoof-care. Modeled after the wild horses. Without the proper physical foundation you are on weak ground to begin with. Just look up and study a few of the books out there...Pete Ramey "Making Natural Hoof Care Work For You". Also Maureen Tierney "Natural Barefoot Trimming. The Hoof Guided Method". These are a great place to start studying. If you are sincere in the pursuit of Endurance then you have the heart for "To finish is to win!" You care. You intend on spending every day planning and training yourself and your team. You will be riding and training, and bringing your horse to cover ground in as close to the wild natural state as anyone can. I believe the healthiest way to keep ourselves and our beloved horses is to pursue Endurance at its purest and healthiest form! Train as you should, and you will both be fantastically healthy!

A must have for every endurance rider
This is a great resource for all endurance enthusiasts. Even though this is an American publication (and I am based in NZ), the topics covered were highly relevant to the sport over here. Covering everything from choosing the right endurance prospect, tack, pre-race preparation and race day tips, this is a book that the keen endurance rider will refer back to time and time again. Highly recommended.

A lot of great technical information needed to make the right choices
This is a very well written book for endurance riders. A lot of great technical information needed to make the right choices. Well organized. Author was right when she said the book would end up dog-eared and high lighted!!
