really helpful tool for taming my extremely frizzy, curly hair
This contraption exceeded my expectations...I am never very happy with hair tools and I am quite pleased with this one. I got it to replace my Dafni brush, which had broken after 5 or 6 years of use, and on my hair, it works much better than the Dafni. I have frizzy, super-porous 3c curls that want to turn into a matted mess resembling cotton candy whether I've straightened it or let it dry curly, it gets so frizzy if it's humid at all or if I have to detangle it, it can't be reset curly without a shower, and it's hard to even use a flat iron...it just fluffs out of the thing. Straightening via blow-out, iron, or the Dafni brush just tends to make it look like a fluffy haystack. I found the Dafni to be essential for getting it in good enough order to then go in with a curling iron and make it look kindov wild and wavy, which is a look i actually prefer, but was variable in terms of success. My hair kindov fluffed out of the Dafni, even though I found that chasing it with a round blowout brush then clipping the sections in big pin-curls helped guide it through while cooling it down, smoothing it, and adding body. I definitely needed a new hot brush when it broke, and did a ton of research. I'm so glad I got this one! This Hot Tools device not only holds the hair better, but glides through much more easily. it makes my hair much smoother and shinier than the Dafni did, gives it some body, and it dosen't revert to frizz as easily. The roundness of it adds leverage to hold the hair tight across the barrel, and you can vary it based on how much you turn/wrap it (although I wouldn't wrap hair more than one time around, it can get tangled). I still chase it with the round brush and pin it up to create more of a wave pattern (and set/contain the section), which sounds awkward but is actually very easy to do, and keeps my hands away from the heat...I never use the gloves that come with these things. I find it much less awkward to use than the paddle-shaped Dafni, and is a much quicker process, even if it starts off as 100% frizz. I have a decent amount of layered hair that's pretty long, and I can do 5 or 6 sections including the bangs. It doesn't get super close to the root, but it does better than I thought it would, given the length of the bristles, and I can quickly touch parts of them up with a flat iron, which I like to do anyway to add some volume and texture. It's been really humid lately and it still works well. It has a bunch of different heat settings (I use it at 375 or 390) and although it does sometimes want to catch up hair from another section, that's really not as much as a problem as I worried it would be, given the girth of the thing. My hair is pretty grabby/tangly and it doesn't get caught in it unless I'm really careless. There was nothing wrong with the Dafni, I found it quite useful, and it broke in a typical way for hair tools (it seemed the power cord became detached inside the handle), but this one works much better for me. It is definitely heavier, but use goes so quickly, the weight hasn't bothered me, even though I have some arthritis in my wrists and hands. It's also about half the price...I hope it lasts somewhere near as long! I couldn't figure out the difference between this, and the more expensive "professional" version, but I'm happy enough with this one that I'm not really wondering anymore!

Works great, wish they made it in a 1.5" round
This hot brush really works great; it leaves my hair soft, silky, shiny, and tangle free and is very quick and easy to use. My only complaint is that they should make the little "cool touch" holder end a bit longer - it's not really big enough to hold without easily burning your fingers. I wish they'd make the exact same item in a 1.5" and a 1" round (ideally one tool with two attachments) Otherwise, it gets EXTREMELY hot - seems to me that it must be hotter than the displayed temperature, but maybe my other tools are just nowhere near as hot as they claim to be. I normally need to put my heated irons/brushes up near 400 degrees, but I can get great results with this one around 300 degrees. Start lower than you think you need, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Best for 2nd day hair
I wanted a styling with out the hot air for dry dry look. This does that well, it doesn't straighten the like a flat iron but more a blow out with less frizz. I like this on second day hair when I want to comb out my wavy hair. This gets hot so start at a lower temp setting til you find your sweet spot.

Saved me after a bad haircut
I recently got a terrible haircut and this little baby is the only thing that has kept me from burning down the salon. It smooths my hair and keeps it looking somewhat acceptable until it grows out. It heats up super fast. You definitely need the glove, as it does get very hot.

Faulty Thermostat causes Error message
I've owned this for 2.5 years. It makes my hair look great but the product becomes defective about a year in. I'm only using it at 350 but after it heats up, the Error message starts flashing. Oftentimes, at this point, it hasn't heated up hot enough. In order to continue to use it, I have to unplug it and start again. Then it heats up again and does reach the temperature. Maybe even hotter. And eventually the Error message comes back. I unplug and plug in order to continue to use it. I would say there is a problem with the thermostat in the product. I see that other people have mentioned this. I am now buying a different product because I am tired of dealing with this.

BUY IT
I was skeptical because i have no idea how to not tangle my hair in round brushes but this has made a world of difference in my hair. I have super thick coarse hair i recently joined the bob clan and i wanted a way to style my hair without using a straightener so i dont look like a karen and this sure helped it looks like o went to the salon and it takes me less than 30 mins to style it comes with a glove but i dont use it and have yet to burn myself since the top of it doesnt get hot i can hold onto it with no issues. 10/10 recommend exceeding all expectations

Loved this- until it broke
Absolutely loved this iron for my hair. Heated up quickly, made my hair nice and smooth. Got it in July, it’s now November and it doesn’t work. I didn’t use it everyday, maybe once a week. Very disappointed

Hair necessity!
This is great for 2nd day hair! I have shoulder length fairly straight natural hair. This works very well for 2nd or 3rd day hair. I also use this on day one if I have been doing things around the house and now it’s just damp. It works a treat then too!I would not recommend for short hair less than say 10 inches long.I also have the Hot Tools Blow Dryer Brush and it is fantastic too. ;)
