Q: How do you indicate if you need inside or outside mount?

Hi, Chicology Cordless Faux Wood Blinds come with a 1/2-inch deduction in the width. This shade is designed to be mounted inside your window frame. If you would like to use this product for outside mount, please add an additional 3-4 inches to the width. Q: Inside mount window is 46.5” what width will I need?

Each brand is different. For this brand, before ordering, 1st measure the inside width. Then decide if you want to mount it inside or outside. For an inside mount, just use the measurement you got and order the blinds with that measurement. The blinds they send to you will be 1/2 inch more narrow than what you ordered in order to accommodate the brackets. But if you want to do an outside mount, you need to add to the width that you measured keeping in mind that the actual width of the blinds will be 1/2 inch less that what you order. To summarize, with either an inside or outside mount, measure the distance from the outside of the left bracket to the outside of the right bracket. And order a blind with that width. You will receive a blind 1/2 inch more narrow than that.
