It depends on what you need it for and what kind of person you are. This is on the large and heavy end of the scale both due to the width of the blade and the steel on the inside of the liner. For "you don't know it's there" weight EDC, I tend to like the Spiderco Delica, it does not have the steel liner and is slightly less intimidating (& for corrosive environments like salt water, I like the Salt 1 as it won't rust). I also like the Kershaw Leek which is an excellent smaller (than this) lighter everyday EDC and have several in different styles and steels - its a Ken Onion design, has assist flip out and metal liner. For small, light everyday knives that will almost fit on a keyring I like the Ladybug series (which surprised me but the one you have on you is the one you use). For the more intimidating look, the Kershaw Junk Yard Dog (JYD, got mine on Amazon in 2010 and it's out of stock now) and the Spiderco Endura are large great large folding knives but lighter than this ZT. Check your state laws on how long of a blade you can carry, some states and college campuses frown on something big enough to penetrate vital organs. Your choice of a knife - it's construction, steels and even brand is a subjective experience. Like Chef's knives, one of each will probably do it :-)

've observed 2 different shades of tiger stripes on the blades from google images, 1with 2shades of grey, the other black and whitish. Which is this?

The tiger stripe is black and a gun metal grey, and the laser engravings are silver, the coating is very durable. I have chopped many small trees and branches and it has no scratches. The whole knife is extremely durable and i would defiantly recommend it !!!!!!

What is the blade style and grind? It looks like a spear point and a drop point hybrid with either a saber or flat grind?

How durable is this blade? Looking for something that will be an outdoor and everyday tool. What is the blade tempered to RC wise?

The ZT-0350TS is built like a tank, and is currently my favorite folder. S30V is a very durable steel and takes a very fine edge. Zero Tolerance tempers there S30V to 57-59 RC. You won't be disappointed with this buy.
