The Road Chip: Junior Novel (Alvin and the Chipmunks) Paperback – November 24, 2015

I loved it! This book is 100% AWESOME! My favorite chipmunk is Simon, and my favorite chipette is Jeanette. I love the book because it's a good reading book, and I can read it on the go, at home, at school, or anywhere else! This is also exactly like the movie! Love it! The book is full of heart and family!

Out of the 4 junior novels that accompany each movie, this one was the least memorable. It has more scenes than the movie, including the Chipmunks (spoiled and destructive as always) blowing up an air marshal's car. The book makes them sound very young, maybe 6-7, whereas they were more like 12 in the movie.The story is about the Chipmunks trying to sabotage their sad sack loser father figure Dave's love life because they are scared he won't want them once he has a new family. It follows the typical formula of the chipmunks getting away with everything because Dave is weak and clueless. The chipmunks and the son of Dave's girlfriend go on the road with the intention of ruining Dave's proposal. Their "punishment" for running away from home and nearly causing a plane to crash is a trip to the arcade where Theodore gorges on food and Alvin wins an Alvin doll. I really hope there's a sequel where the chipmunks finally get a day of reckoning, and actually have to sleep outdoors again (which apparently they cannot any more because Theodore has to have his pillow).

This was agift and the young I gave it to enjoyed it.
