A lot of calories and saturated fat
Yes, it's paleo. I know, but still. Check the nutrition label before buying. They taste pretty good. Cut a little thicker than I prefer, but not a big deal.

Superb!
These Bubba snack chips are made from green soba bananas. They are savory and starchy so they can be treated just like potatoes These taste fantastic in fried chip form. They are crispy and have just the right amount of salt in the various flavors offered. Do not be fooled by the banana label. They are not sweet. They are savory. The chip textures are just like Cape Cod type potato chips, hard & crunchy. The price is a bit on the high side for the amount received but that is to be expected when using unique ingredients. I'm basing my 5 star rating on quality & taste. These chips are great!

Tasty plantain chips
This is a nice assortment of plantain chips — I'm not really sure why this product is branded a "banana chip," much less the cloyingly silly abbreviated form "'nana" on the packaging, but it's tasty all the same. (The "Saba banana" described on the ingredients is a starchy cooking banana, and like all starchy cooking bananas, commonly known as a plantain.) The flavor of these chips is very much the same as traditional plantain chips , though they're very, very thick and cooked in coconut oil, making them even fattier. (Comparing the fat content of these chips to a convenience-store snack is eye-opening — be aware they contain several times as much fat as you might be expecting, rather than just the usual carb cost of a bag of chips.) The flavor is very nice — salty, savory, and the flavor varieties are all pleasant, as is the crunch of the thick chips. They're packed tightly in a small box without the usual air blown into the bag, making them easier to store; the bags are almost impossible to open without scissors, but apart from that they're a good on-the-go snack food. Tasty snack, but not "healthy" by any reasonable definition I can think of; it's a good treat, though.

Good alternative to potato chips; Nutritional info; Freshness dates
These are made from Saba bananas, a variety often used for cooking, not sweet like the Cavendish we usually buy in the US.The flavoring includes enough oil to feel like potato chips, and Bubba's compares their taste to potato chips. I do notice the similarity, and quite enjoy them. The texture isn't as crispy, of course, but there's a good crunch. The hot ones, Blazing Buffalo, have a good cayenne buzz that creeps up slowly. That flavor and the Savory Original have almost a sour cream taste along with the spices. Good cheese and garlic taste in the other flavor. There are 200 calories and 12g fat per bag, about like potato chips.2-3g protein is also similar to potato chips. The original flavor has a bit less salt than most potato chips, 190mg sodium per bag. The other two flavors have a little more than potato chips, 230 and 240mg.The sugar is low for banana chips, 1g per bag. Potato chips have practically none.Glycemic index depends on carbs and how they're digested. They don't give a number for these snacks, but bananas are considered low on the glycemic scale, and green bananas such as are used here even lower, so they're probably pretty low.The freshness dates range from May 8-28, 2021.

Classic Sea Salt flavor good, others not so much
About a week ago, I was offered a free 18-pack of Bubba's Foods Paleo Banana Chip Variety Pack for review via the Amazon Vine Program, and I accepted. These are interesting banana chips in that in this pack, Bubba's is going for 100% savory flavor with these, and they pretty much achieved that with various degrees of success. They are all very crunchy and not at all greasy. These are my impressions of the three flavors included in this pack:Classic Sea Salt - aside from the small diameter of the chips and the thicker cut, you would be hard pressed to figure out that these were not potato chips if you didn't already know. At least at first. Somehow, a fruity banana undertone eventually invades and gives it away. Overall, these are pretty good. Four stars for the Classic Sea Salt.Blazing Buffalo - Some underlying salt and spicy flavor, but heat overpowers and takes over quickly. Once that happens, there is no flavor, just heat. I'm not a fan of heat for the sake of heat. Two stars for this flavor.Grand Garlic Parm - I get salt, garlic, rosemary and oregano... but the flavor is... muddy. I'm not thrilled with them overall, so I'm not a fan of this flavor either. Maybe three stars for this one.So I would be happy with a bag of the Classic Sea Salt flavor but the other two varieties don't do it for me. That is why I'm giving this variety pack three stars.
