Just to throw in my 2 cents to all the ...
Just to throw in my 2 cents to all the other reviews...I agree with most issues listed already... need a drill bit to enlarge one of the holes so it can fit in properly; it overheats and shuts off after just a few minutes of running; might not run as long as an original bulb. The pros it has going for it is that you buy it at a much lesser price with the housing, than you would just pay for the bulb itself, and it goes just about half price or more than if you buy the OEM part.I bought this after the original bulb simply blew out with a bang. I ran it for almost a year after - I'm running it as a computer monitor, and it's on a few hours daily. After enlarging one of the support holes so it would fit properly, this is how I solved the overheating problem - since I have it mounted on the ceiling panel, I removed the plastic cover and installed an small USB fan (connected to one of the projector's USB ports) that would blow air on the bulb whenever the projector turns on. A small L shaped plastic/paper clip would have to be fitted into the electric connection that the plastic cover opens when properly installed. I would only do this if there's no danger of anyone having physical access to the unit - leaving that cover open will make it possible for someone to touch the electrical parts or the hot bulb parts.Hope this helps.

First one too dim, replacement plenty bright, unfortunately lifetime is much shorter than advertised.
3 words: it is dim. It works but it's probably 1/4 brightness of the original lamp. 1/2 brightness of another after-market replacement (from ebay) I used in my Viewsonic Pro8200 projector after the original blew. I use it in a pitch-black basement room, and the projected movies still look dim. Worst of all, when I try to adjust brightness, it changes how bright grays and blacks but only relatively -- it doesn't seem to increase absolute brightness of the projected image. In short, I am disappointed with this replacement lamp. I bought it from Exclusive Bulbs in Dec 2016.UPDATE: Turns out the first lamp I received may have been defective. The replacement is plenty bright. Exclusive Bulbs reached out to me after I posted my review and assured me that my satisfaction was their priority. They sent me a shipping label to return the lamp to them, and the replacement they sent, a couple of days after I had sent mine back, is very bright. I am still unable to adjust the brightness of this lamp to my satisfaction (brightness control just changes the relative grayness - almost like another contrast adjustment), but it is extremely bright, so it's OK. In truth, it could be my projector at fault, not the lamp. I can't be sure. With my previous 2 lamps brightness could be easily adjusted, and hence I assumed it must be the lamp. In all, I am satisfied with the replacement lamp, and I am upgrading my review to 4 stars.UPDATE2: The replacement lamp didn't last very long. A few months (probably a 1/3 of the time it was supposed to last). The same was true for the other replacement lamp I received. Maybe I just got 3 defective units (too dim x1, and lifetime too short x2). Changing my review to 2 stars.

Be prepared to remove the screens to avoid overheating. You may also need to force it into locked position.
This was a chore and a half. One of the holes that fits around a small peg had to be drilled out a bit but it still wouldn't fit in properly in my Viewsonic Pro8200. After much trial and error I found that if I push down on the side facing the lens firmly and steadily it finally seated itself. I don't use the term "firmly" lightly here either as I feared breaking it and/or the projector. There's a rectangular gap that sits over a ridge that is just shy of being cut to the proper width. But that wasn't the end of my issues. Lit it up and it looked all good but soon started to really smell hot. Thinking it was just burning off oils or what-have-you I ignored it but then after about 1/2 hour it shut down with an "overheat" code. Then I removed it. As this has 2 screens in places where the original did not I figured I had the choice to either just remove the screens (easiest) or pull the lamp from this and swap it with the tired old lamp in the original enclosure - which is what I did as I didn't relish the thought of forcing this housing into place again. After cleaning the original housing and the piece of glass in the front I swapped out the lamp. It's working great. I bet it would have been fine if I just removed the screens but as I said, I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to force it back in place again.Would not recommend to the average Joe or anyone who wants a quick and easy replacement. My only concern now is the no-name bulb and how much life it's got. Especially after overheating on it's first go-round.

Lasted half as long as stock part, but worked.
I run my projector for hours every day. I ordered from Projector-Lamps-World. The bulb burned out after 1576 hours according to the internal counter. The previous bulb I used was the stock bulb, which lasted 2800 hours. The bulb is rated to last 2000 hours. So, it lasted almost half as long, however it was about half the price as buying an official replacement stock part.To be clear, buying pretty much any amazon bulb not from Viewsonic themselves means you will likely get a cheap Chinese knockoff. The vendor will matter more than the listed product, as each one will be selling their own version.Update: After this one burned out I bought another from a different vendor, which burned out in 15 minutes. I returned it and got another, which burned out in about 20 hours. There are a LOT of bad bulbs on the market!

Works well, but not straight out of the box.
Bought this as a replacement lamp for my ViewSonic Pro8200 projector. Fitting was easy and the projector fired up straight away, but after about a minute, it switched off with the 'Lamp' and 'Temp' error lights both on.After reading the amazon.com reviews, I removed the two meshes that were on the housing (these were not present on the previous lamp), which improved the airflow. All is resolved!4 stars as it needed a bit of modification, but it only takes removing about 8 screws to resolve the issue.
