Does the job without fault
Used this Flooring Nailer to install about 300 sf of 3/4 x 3-1/4 inch red oak flooring and it worked like a champ. Not one instance jamming or misfiring. It's well balanced, easy to use, and sturdy. It was so easy I'm looking at other rooms to install hardwood flooring. The tools I found to be the most useful and time saving (that I wish I had ten years ago!) were this nailer, a brad nailer for the boards too close to the wall for the flooring nailer, a ratcheting floor jack to tighten up those last rows the nailer couldn't get to, and an oscillating saw for the trim pieces, to get the flooring under.

Perfect
As a former handyman, I decided to install hardwood flooring in our bedroom to match the remainder bedrooms in our old home. Having had difficulty locating a HWF nailer to rent once I had the materials in my home to install and prepped the area. I knew that I wanted a Bostich nailer and the “L” cleat nails to do the job and looked to Amazon again to locate the items. Having found exactly what I wanted, I also noticed that a used nailer, in excellent condition, was offered for less and decided to give it a try, possibly selling it after this project was finished. It arrived in the original box and worked perfectly throughout the job. With any luck, I will sell it for a little less than what I paid for it, taking into consideration that I would have rented one anyway. Also the nails that I had purchased from Amazon worked very well to boot!

worth a little Extra money
Decided to install my own refinished hardwood floor. Some suggested buying a HF gun and save the money. I own a few other finish Bostitch nailers so decided to go with this. Works like a charm…. No misfiring…. But wish it had a “no nail” lock…. Be sure to keepIt loaded with nails. It does sound a little different when it’s empty but did not figure that out the first time I forgot to refill the nails!

Problem
During the first 7 rows I laid it jammed 3 X’s. Grrr. After losing time dismantling and unjamming it I was ready to return it. But what I found was that the nail pusher would occasionally slip under the nails and stop pushing the nails, causing it to jam. I firmly pressed in on the nail guard (see arrow on nail guard) to bent it a little so that the nails would remain in front of the nail pusher. Since performing this adjustment I did over 40 rows and it didn't jam again!I also put tape on the nail pusher to watch when I’m running low on nails. Then with each set of nails I would disconnect the air line and add 2-3 drops of oil to the air intake of the nailer.I placed white tape on my line of sight right where the nailer is located. This is so I don’t accidentally set the metal part of the nailer on the hardwood’s surface and mar it.Lastly, if you give it a weak wack and only partially set the nail, don’t bother trying to pull it out. I tried and it’s impossible. I just partially cut it with a hacksaw blade (held in hand,) grab the nail with pliers and snap it off. Takes about 6-8 seconds. Really the best way I found. Again, this was from my inexperience. Consistently give nailer a firm wack to set the nail properly. This is my first job and it looks great. I’ve gotten many compliments on it!

Worked great!
worked great right out of box. hammer head is jiiggling a bit though. no doubt that the gun will perform great. Bostitch is a very reliable brand.

Most Reliable Nailer Ever
I own a lot of different kinds of nail guns, but this one beats them all in terms of doing what it supposed to do repeatedly without fail. I've put over 3000 nails through it so far and not once has it ever jammed. You can get an occasional under-fired nail if you fail to hit the trigger knob hard enough though, this is really designed to require a respectable whack to properly fire the nail. The hammer impact is part of the overall mechanical process and insures there is no gap between boards. It is impressive that they have designed a trigger mechanism so rugged that it can take such repeated beatings without ever breaking. You can only nail up to about 12" away from the wall though before you run out of room, then it's back to the painful and inferior process of using brad nails. Once you use this you can never go back to any other method of nailing floors. If you are sitting on the fence wondering if this tool is worth it, trust me... it is worth it!
