Q: Can the width be reduced by trimming it and how (e.g. Stanley knife, etc)? If so should it be cut before or after sticking it?

We trimmed 2mm off after it was stuck on using a good Stanley knife

Q: Can this go around something without crinkling?

we used it on a rounded edge of worksurface with no problem. Not being very diy all I can say is its bit like duck tape but thicker. 1 yr later its still in place
