As far as expansions go, this is not a mere set of additions, it's 15+ different variants that can be mixed and matched to suit the fancy of the players.While adding some components that help with the tracking/management of all the various pieces of the base game, it also incorporates extra features from the original, like captains, quests, rumors, etc.Then, there are extensions. Crew loyalty, for instance. Weather changes. New bases to sail into, in addition to ports. Additional ways to spend money to outfit your ship to greater and greater fame. Contraband goods that give better payouts than normal goods. The list goes on, and on...And, in a much welcome inclusion, refitting of older player vessels starkly differentiates between playing merchant versus marauder like never before.

This is my favorite add on to any board game I have ever played. Merchants and Marauders is, in my opinion, the best board game. There is so much flexibility in every play style. This add on pack adds so much variety to the game that you can make it feel quite different everytime. I could not recommend a product any more highly than I do this one. Go buy Merchants and Marauders, enjoy it, then come get this add on and enjoy it again.

Is a really good expansion, the modular aspect specially, you add what you want and need, simple like that.Anyways still lacks of some interesting house rules like sea monsters and ghost ships, but besides that it has a really good value for the price in forms of new units, captains, systems and more.

This is probably the best expansion that I have bought for a game in the last 2 years. In this box you will find 12 modules that add depth and choices to Merchants and Marauders (M n M). Additional options to get gold and glory points (by buying contraband among other methods introduced in this expansion...), weapons, ship modifications, locations to go in the map (in addition to those you visit using the "port action"). Also in this hefty box you will get new captains, ships and ship miniature, which add storytelling and thematic elements to the game. Additionally, this expansion will double all the decks of cards (Missions, Rumors, goods "+ contraband", events) for additional situations and dynamics to be resolve during gameplay.I specifically like the contraband addition, (which was missing from the original game in this form…). It provides additional option to get gold, glory point and increases the flavor of the theme greatly. I don't understand how this was not taken into consideration in the original design...How you make a pirate game without more frequent contraband and smuggling dynamics in it!!!! Still I like the original game but I can't see myself playing it without this module.All of this for 1 great price. If you are already familiar and love M n M, this is a great addition to your already fun experience. If you love M n M, you already have this....if you don't ....What are you waiting for??

This is a great expansion - the best I've ever bought. I love the fact that it is modular so you decide what components to add. All the different modules makes it really great.

The most comprehensive expansions of a game I've ever seen. M&M was already a great game but the modules in this expansion add so much more depth and fun to the experience.
