Excellent flow, great taste, right certifications
Purchased due to PFAS readings from our municipal water supply. The certifications were important to me and I didn't trust filters that supposedly last years. 6 months seems right, and while it's a new household expense, it seems worth it after installation. The parts & instructions were well made & written. Based on another helpful review, I purchased 3 inexpensive extra parts that eliminated the white piece that connects directly to the water supply line since it seemed to improve durability and ensure good flow. I hope they might upgrade their parts package to do this for future customers. The filter is long, and the best way to install under my sink was horizontal, which made it harder to reach the furthest screws, but not impossible, and now replacement is that much easier.Upon first test, heard the water try and make its way through but there was almost no flow. Long story short, something made its way to the faucet head, which once I cleaned it out, the flow seemed almost (90% or more) like pre-install. (Sigh of relief). I also had to reseat the connectors to the filter head housing to ensure no leaking. I put a small container underneath just to be sure, but it's been dry since day one.Water tastes very good, and it feels good to have done the best we can to improve the quality / health of our drinking water.

Problematic install, slower flow rate, but still well worth it
The tap water in our neighborhood is usually fine, but every so often, it gets a bout of a really unpleasant funky smell that lasts for several days. After dealing with one too many occurrences of it, the wife demanded we do something about it. I wanted something inline, under-sink, and compact due to space constraints. I also didn't want a huge drop in the water flow rate. I settled on this filter after researching various options and seeing it mentioned in The Wirecutter.INSTALLATIONAs some other reviewers mentioned, the plastic diverter part that screws into your water supply line is terrible. It is made of a very soft plastic and sure enough, I stripped the threads on it when trying to screw it into my water supply line. I ended up contacting customer support and they mailed me a replacement in a few days at no charge. Being extra careful to get it aligned properly, I was able to get the replacement one installed. The rest of the installation was as one could expect while working under a sink with a big garbage disposal and various pipes and hoses in the way.Now that it is installed, I'm happy with how little space it takes up in the back corner of the cabinet. I haven't had to replace the filter yet, but it seems like it will be very easy to when the time comes.FILTRATIONI don't have any scientific instruments to measure contaminants, etc. However, I've had this installed for 3.5 months and I'm pleased to say the water has smelled and tasted perfect the entire time.WATER FLOW RATEAs I was concerned about the drop in water pressure, I actually measured it before and after the installation of the filter. We have a Delta faucet with a high flow water mode (4353-AR-DST I think). I measured the flow rate by measuring the time it took to fill a one gallon jug and doing the math from there. Here are the results:Regular flow, no filter: 1.40 gpmHigh flow, no filter: 1.76 gpmRegular flow, with filter: 1.09 gpmHigh flow, with filter: 1.11 gpmAs you can see, it's a noticeable drop. There is essentially no difference between the regular and high flow modes of the faucet now. However, it's really not so bad and we think it's definitely worth the trade off. It's slower, but still fast enough for filling pitchers, pots, etc. Remember, your hot water will still be at full pressure since the filter does not affect that.LOWER PRICE OPTIONI wish I had noticed this before I bought the Aquasana, but there appears to be the exact same item under a different brand for $20 less here on Amazon. Search for "AO Smith Under Sink Water Filter System" and you'll see that the only thing that looks different is the stickers on the filter.

Does NOT work in NYC
Doesn’t work in nyc. After months and months of trial and error, this system would only work for two weeks and then trickle.I had it professionally installed with a sediment filter. After many new filter replacements, the same issue would happen- decent pressure for about a week or so and then just trickle.Aquasana was stumped. Wasted too much time with them. At the end, they refunded me for one filter. Everything else was time and money lost

These things are wonderful, I would recommend every household to install one. It sure saves on plastic bottles in our landfills.

Strong Start, Falls Off Fast
This filter is amazing on paper but really lost me after about a year. The filter is easy to install with no leaks or fitting problems (at least for me). The water pressure loss on my cold water-only installation was severe, with my pressure going from great with no filter to OK with the filter, poor after about 2 weeks with the filter.Filter replacements are quite expensive, at about $80-$90 per filter and each filter lasting, in my area, about 4-5 months before it was so slow that a new one was required even though we didn't hit the 6 months (it's very possible we hit the gallon limit though). My number 1 problem is durability. After about a year and change (going into my 4th filter) the filter replacement process felt weird, as if something was wrong inside, but it worked. Then with the next filter replacement it stopped working entirely. The valve inside had clearly broke and with a new cartridge installed no water flowed through, instead it built up a huge amount of pressure and sprayed water all over the place when I removed the filter cartridge to reinstall it. I put the old unit back in to see if the new cartridge I got was a lemon -- it wasn't, because the old cartridge didn't work either. So after under 1.5 years and about $400ish dollars invested, my filter is broken and I'm still missing my 3m Filtrete which I got this to replace. That filter cheaper, worked better, and lasted much longer.

Why didn't I do this sooner?!
Installation was easy. No leaking. No noticeable reduction in water flow (to my surprise). Great taste - side-by-side comparison to my regular tap water was amazing!
