Mounted onto a cigar box
I drilled holes into the bottom of a cigar box and mounted thisplate on and then attached a quick release plate to the mountand voila! I have a pochade box I can use with a tripod. Very easy.Have to pre-dill holes. I used a 1/8" drill bit. My cigarbox is made of thin wood so I was careful not to tighten screwstoo much. Not going to add additional holes for the rubber feet.

You need this is the box you bought doesn't have it.
Just add this to the cost of the box and order it. You are going to need to mount it to a tripod for plein air. I believe some boxes may come with this attached. The 6x8 Thumbox I have didn't.The rubber feet are a nice touch but you are really buying this for the tripod mount.Be aware all 8 screws in this protrude into the inside of the bottom of the box so you will NOT be able to put the 6x8 Watercolor Palette in the lower portion with any paints as it no longer fits depth-wise. I wasn't aware of this and it really screwed up my setup until I reconfigured some things and put the palette overtop of the slide-out wood palette. Wish there was a better way to attach without sacrificing inside space but I get it, I got a small box and the hardware included is good so everything will not fall out. In the end I lined my box with corrugated cardboard pressed with holes for the screw (and a cutout for the mighty mite) so it's flat again.

Ok but convenient
Way over priced but it works. It does work, is the takeaway. I wouldnt be rough with it because you can wear out mount over time. Just keep in mind you can buy some of these parts at any hardware store. Or even here on Amazon for cheaper. It is attached to an Capri Sketch box that I bought here on Amazon from Jerry’s Artarama. Depending on the quality of your box you may need a drill. Mine is made out of cheap beech wood so I only used a screw and screw driver to hand drill them on.Side note: you need a really good tripod to mount for a large sketch box box. I use my canon tripod because when I used my cheap one it was tipping over.

Way overpriced...
This is a seriously overpriced item. I bought this to install it on a larger french mistress box, but the product really should cost no more than 5-8 bucks for what it is. You will need to drill about a 1/2" hole on your box to properly install the plate so that the tripod mount side is completely flush with the tripod plate for stability. For my mistress box with a thick panel (Richeson), I ended up drilling halfway and then carefully carved out a hole just enough to bury the center head screw, and used 4 wood screws to secure the plate instead of using the supplied bolts and nuts meant to be installed through the bottom panel. If my box panel were thinner, I would've been in trouble since the bolts and nuts would've protruded into the base glass palette area. For most smaller pochade boxes with thinner boards, you can use some cheap 1/4-20 x 1/4" tee nuts you can buy on Amazon (or hardware stores) along with a wood panel piece to screw on to the box.

Does its job: attached tripod mounting screw to easel
Solid metal. Easy to install. Fits standard tripod attachment screw. Needs padding to build up space between each mounting screw to therefore firmly contact tripod plate. You have to make your own out of some sort of foam or plastic with adhesive.

DIY Plein AIr Made Easy
After lusting after a pochade box, but not being willing to spend the money for a well-made one, I decided to add this to a wooden painter's box I already owned. All the necessary hardware was included. I added a tripod quick release plate for easy on and off. I use a ball head so I can adjust the angle.

Very good but expensive
This is good tripod mount, expensive but good quality, comes with everything I need to attach to my board.I bought two of them, put one on water color board and the other on my modified painting box.I wish it is cheaper so I can buy more. I also find some solution. I bought tripod mount adapters 1/4" to 3/4" and use thoseadapter, save a lot of money.

DIY Pochade
If you're as crafty as you are artsy, making your own pochade box shouldn't present more of a challenge than a design meditation as you fall off to sleep. Some basic hardware from Lowes, a woodshop (a least a circular saw), and a tripod will get you 99% of the way there. This UNIVERSAL TRIPOD MOUNT is the missing link. You may want to obtain longer bolts for it, but it is ideal otherwise. I have one for a 9x12 box, and another for a HUGE 16x20 box. (YankeePainter.com)

Overpriced
I would say that although it looks good picture wise its a bit rough around the edges of the plate that could of been burnished off. Its small and will work as described.
