Perfect for Pandemic Anxiety and Going Back to School Stress!
The media could not be loaded. I've read many of Misty Black's books. It's so fun to get to know the characters like Punk the Skunk and Quilliam the Porcupine. Her newest book, "Brave the Beaver Has the Worry Warts" does not disappoint. From reading her books, you can tell this author is a thoughtful, kind, and loving human being who writes from her heart wanting to touch the reader (of any age). At this crazy time during the COVID-19 pandemic, this book helping deal with anxiety and stress management is especially relevant. This is the PERFECT book to get for all the youngsters in your life who are getting ready to go back to school. Don't forget to read the extra materials as there is a page at the end with additional ways of coping and dealing with these issues. Thank you to this author who lovingly tackles these hard subjects and leaves the reader refreshed and encouraged.

So cute!
So cute! Love the chant. The sooner kids learn the concept of 'mind over matter' the better. Deep breaths work wonders for the worry warts. "Breathe in courage, breathe out fear!"

Enabling and Powerful!
The author addresses in a clear and honest way, what many kids would feel moving to a new school. I LOVE the little rhyme that encourages you to 'breathe in courage, breathe out fear'! The situations that Brave finds himself in are wonderful discussion points to have with the children in your life. They will help them understand that they are not alone in their feelings. Plus, there are actionable steps that one can take that will help. I love the underlying constant concept that children can have power to overcome their struggles. This enabling power is so important for kids to understand and the author does a marvelous job teaching it. The whole series is AWESOME!!

Good Book for a 5-Year-Old
My 5-year-old loves this book and had me read it to her twice in a row when she first got it. Her only disappointment was the lack of stickers. She first thought the pages covered with little characters were covered with stickers and then said sadly, “I wish these were stickers!” But the story is good and the illustrations are so cute that she asked me to buy her the other books in the series.

Such a relatable story!
My daughter loved this story. We all have the case of the worry warts from time to time, but using techniques to help - like Brave the Beaver is a great teaching tool. This story has a beautiful rhyme that children can use during their moments of worry. The illustrations are adorable too.

Loved it!
A wonderful book about helping kids adapt to new surroundings. Worrying about starting a new school and making new friends can cause kids to keep to themselves. Brave shows how he overcame those fears with confidence and courage and how he found happiness in his new school. Many kids deal with shyness and anxiety and starting a new school adds to the stress they're already dealing with. This book is a great tool to help calm those fears. Highly recommended!

Cute story - tackles the topic of anxiety (and how to reduce it) in a simple way for kids
Another cute story about Punk the Skunk and his friends. In this book, Punk’s class at school are joined by Brave the Beaver. Brave has just moved to a new home, and is so worried about starting at a new school that he’s broken out in an embarrassing case of the “worry warts”! Thankfully, Brave is able to help control his anxiety with a nifty little chant to boost his confidence. He soon finds that his worst fears don’t come true, and he even becomes the class hero when his beaver skills are needed to help out a classmate. This picture book has delightful pictures, and kids will learn some ways to combat their own fears while they follow the story. I loved that the author included a section after the main story which discusses anxiety and how to reduce it ( all in simple, kid-friendly language). Highly recommended.
