Q: is there a fixed lens of can you change it up?

It is a fixed lens, but has a zoom lens, so you can go from close-up to telephoto.

Q: Will filters fit (like uv filters) fit on the lens?

The lens housing is NOT threaded, so no filters , although search for the model of the camera and add kiwifotos , i've been wondering myself if it would work..., not guaranteed.

Q: Can I connect a microphone directly to the camera for better sound quality?

Hello there. Unfortunately, there is no microphone port on the camera. But the sound quality is pretty good.

Q: So i'm buying this camera from someone however it does not come with a cd rom. what exactly is the cd for? & if i do need it where can i buy/get one?

You don't need the CD rom, you can get your pictures straight from your card or the camera itself.
