I used to buy disposable skivers from the local hobby shop but after going through a few of them I decided to just buy one with blades that are easy to trade out. I was shocked at how cheap this was when compared to disposable ones. I have had absolutely fantastic results with these and I've only had to change the blades out once after doing a lot of leatherworking with them. The blades maintain an edge through a lot of punishment. The silver one works a lot like a regular razor and the black-handled one works like a straight-blade razor (if you have any experience with those.) These are incredibly easy to use.

Yes, these are useful tools, look good, fit in the hand well, and they are sharp and blades are inexpensive.

The black little one is sort of awful. It bends really easy and then gets floppy from bending so much from the cheap metal. But it actually cut at first.The big one has great metal! But it does not cut really well. I feel like the cutting angle is not set correctly. It does not grab the leather and scoop under the leather that I am cutting.At first, I thought it was me. Maybe my skill was wrong. Like my technique was wrong.But after using it a while, I am convinced that it is just something to use when you have nothing else to do the job. I would not buy this again, if I needed this. I think they make more professional ones. However, they will work if you need something that you don’t want to spend a lot on.I guess if you were doing this professionally, you would already know what to buy and would not even be messing around with this cheap version.

This resulted in an inconsistent performance that made the tool unreliable for professional use.Not Worth the Investment:Given that it couldn’t meet the basic requirements for skiving leather, I decided it was not worth keeping. If precision and efficiency are critical for your projects, you might be better off considering other options.Overall, this skiving tool did not live up to expectations and was returned promptly due to its inability to perform as needed.

This thing is awesome for thinning leather. Exactly what i needed. Very sturdy. All metal. Definitely recommend additional blades. The go full after a few pieces of leather.

If you've been at it for any period of time, you'll nm recognize these are pretty cheap. However with overall metal construction and reolacemaole blades I think they're actually a great value because once you get the hang of it they work pretty dang good
