Amazing tool
Every year I have 150’ of eight to ten feet high and eight foot wide laurel hedges to trim. This Mikita extended trimmer is just the right weight and length to do most of the job easily. I only had to pull out my really long Echo gas trimmer for some of the longer reaches. After using gas for all these years it is so nice to having a trimmer so light and easy to manage. I can also start early in the morning when it is cooler because it is so quiet and not bother the neighbors. English Laurel is one of the harder hedges to trim because the leaves are so big and the stems get woody. The Mikita cuts through pencil size woody twigs easily. I regret not buying it years ago. I also have the chainsaw, blower and string trimmer not to mention drills and flashlights, so I have a good collection of batteries. Battery life with heavy use was longer than I could last with the 5 amp battery. Sharp and powerful. I fell in love with it within the first five minutes. The real deal, not a toy.

Must have tool
I bought this tool to handle the 15-20 bushes on my 2 acre property I had a battery black and decker which served me well but just did not wow me with performance. This tool was not cheap but after seeing the reviews and watching videos, I decided to try it. Comes with two batteries so you are never without power . Ease of use is just fantastic with the swivel hedge clipper easily moved into different positions. However, I find myself setting it up in the straight positions most of the time. The unit is very light and can be used continuously without fatigue. Now because of that, I pull this tool out all the time and use it to trim up pretty much anything in my yard. Bushes, trees grasses, more bushes. It cuts better than any hedge trimmer I have ever had and now my bushes look great. I will be sitting in my backyard and I will see one of my bushes needs a small trim and I will pull this baby out and within minutes , I am done . I would recommend this to anyone who has let’s say more then 5-7 bushes that need trimming , less then that and the unit is a tad expensive for smaller yards. It is the best tool in my arsenal

Lightweight, powerful and long lasting battery
I live on an acre of property on the coast of California. It’s beautiful but requires constant maintenance. After spending thousands on landscaping crews I decided to invest in the DIY tools. I’ve been a longtime user of Ego battery powered tools. They’re relatively inexpensive and do the job. I ran into a professional gardener using this Makita trimmer at a local hotel. I asked his opinion and he said he’s tried many different brands but Makita is the best overall. So I took his advice and bought one. I’m amazed at what a difference it makes in comparison to its Ego counterpart. It’s very lightweight, quality feel, easy to operate and the small battery is powerful and lasts a long time on a single charge. My only issue is they should sell a blade cleaning tool as an accessory. I tried a brush and rag and cut my fingers (the blades are razor sharp

The best battery trimmer period.
I’ve owned Makita battery equipment forr over 20 years. I still have usable 18v batteries 15 years old. This trimmer is absolutely fantastic. I have 300 ft of 10’high silverthorn. It handles up to 3/4 thick vine no problem and the 5Ahr battery lasts a good long time. This is great equipment because it’s MAKITA!

Does the job
got it 3 days ago and gave it a workout on 180 linear ft of 8' tall photinia (redtip) hedge, two 11' arborvitae, several 8' burford holleys, and some 7' tall loropetalums. Used 2-cycle trimmer on low hanging fruit and finished off with the makita cordless. I like it. Made the job much easier with no ladder or lunging from my tip toes. Read criticism of having to push power button if you let go of trigger too long - not a factor, never gave me a problem. Some critisize battery life - absolutely no problem with my two 5ah batteries. I needed a break long before even one battery ran low. Cutting power? Hey It's not a 2-cycle but very surprised by what it did on Burford holleys as some stems were good 3/8". Arborvitae was piece of cake and very adequate to even the top of photinias. Only gave 4 stars because I5 stars bad karma and no experience with its durability. Light weight and Like the way it folds for storage. Only ran on high speed and doubt i'll ever use other two. Ability to change angle a great feature, wouldn't want one without it. Zero complaints. Next challenge is trimming light brush on a pond bank.

THis Makita Articulating Pole Trimmer Is a Great Tool.
Great Tool. Regally reduced the amount of ladder time when trimming my seven-foot high, five-foot wide hedge. My shorter hedge other shrubs and small trees now can be quickly trimmed with no ladder time whatsoever.. At only 9 pounds with 5 amp battery installed, the tool is light weight. The 5 amp batteries that come with the tool provide plenty of power. I found that I prefer not to operate the tool without a shoulder strap. Using the appropriate Makita shoulder strap is useful for some applications, but mostly the strap seems to get in my way. By The way, the Makita shoulder strap must be ordered separately.

Light-medium weight compare to my old Black And Decker 18v. Cut well and don’t take a lot of battery juice. I make a test with a 3ah battery and after 20minutes, it will going strong. If you plan to cut a bigger area, have some spare batteries. Very happy customer.

This trimmer is by far the best I have ever used. I cut a 100 foot long cedar hedge (7 ft tall). Did it using 2 Batteries (4 ah). The weight is light enough that you don't have to take a break. I wish I had bought this years ago.

This tool was the best investment that I have made as I have a landscape business. Although its a little more than I wanted to pay, its easy to operate and does the job very well. I did purchase a cheaper Dewalt product before, it broke down before actually using it on a job. As they say " you get what you pay for".

It’s better than I thought it would be. It’s not light but for most people it’s fine depending on how much you have to do. The battery lasts surprisingly long for 1–18 volt battery.
