I am giving this raincoat ten stars
This raincoat is not cheap. But it is worth at least twice its price. The materials used are clearly as top-notch as the workmanship is superfine. I take my hat off to as well as salute the designers at Hurtta.Where my dog and I are, it is now the raining season. It rains daily, and that will go on till end of March/early April. The rain can get so heavy that visibility is limited to around 80 metres/yards to 120 metres/yards. Beyond that, you only see a grey wall. As I take my dog out daily, rain or shine, for her exercise, a raincoat that keeps most of her body dry and yet allows great freedom of movement is of paramount importance. This raincoat fits the bill p-e-r-r-r-r-f-e-c-t-l-y.The raincoat is especially suitable for dogs that love to indulge in intense activities outdoors in any weather. For that reason, the material used to cover the dog's body consists of three layers that make it (the raincoat) waterproof and yet breathable. Do note, however, that it may not be quite suitable on its own for sub–zero temperatures. In that situation, the Hurtta Pet Collection Summit Parka or Hurtta Ultimate Warmer might be your better option. It is not shown in the picture, but the part that covers the neck actually has two adjustments, one at the base of the neck, and the other, at the top edge. This means our dog’s neck will stay free of water or snow. And, of course, it will not be assaulted by wind. The edges of the chest panel/cover is one of the features that impress me. They are softly elasticised. This means that our dog will not feel any discomfort in her/his parts of the chest and belly that come in contact with the edges.A strap (comprising two parts, of course) from this chest panel is wound around the top panel and secured with a side-release plastic buckle. Even during an intense activity, our dog’s chest and belly will still stay covered. The rear portion of the coat is kept in place by means of two slim, soft elastic bands and a button. We put our dog’s hind legs through the bands. And we button up the two sides of the top panel under the base of our dog’s tail.I especially love the fact that my dog’s hindquarters are as well covered as her upper front legs. I am not too impressed with raincoats that leave these exposed. And, yes, a protected opening on the back for my leash attached to a harness to go through is yet another plus point.Reflective strips abound on this coat to ensure our dogs are readily seen by motorists and others at night. As well, even the two cords used to adjust the tightness around the base and the top of the neck respectively and the strap reflect light. You can see this in the picture I am attaching. Even if you ignore the two reflective straps coming up from the orange component and another one around the top of the neck, you will appreciate the great visibility that this coat affords. These are parts of the special vest (coloured safety orange) that my dogs wear; it protects the chest, belly and genitals against things on the ground that can cause serious injuries. The picture was taken at 8.19 pm in a forest and the rain had just stopped. When we got home, I only needed to clean my dog's lower legs and tail, and dry her head. After some 12 years of buying raincoats that did not quite satisfy or even completely disappointed me, I have found the perfect one. I am giving this ten stars. You will have to imagine the other five not shown above :-)))))Do I need to say that I strongly recommend this raincoat?

Expensive - but worth it!
This cost is relatively expensive - but it is extremely well designed & constructed with high quality materials:After considerable research I purchased this raincoat for my dog. I was looking specifically for a rain coat - not a coat for warmth, but something to keep my dog clean and dry and could use in all 4 seasons. This coat fills the bill admirably. The chest panel covers most, but not all, of the underside of my dog - a spot where she normally accumulates considerable dirt and water on our daily long walks. She has considerable hair on her back hindquarters. Most dog coats leave this critical area uncovered, or only partially covered. This coat fully covers most of her rear hindquarters. It does NOT have a hood for her head, which I prefer. Dogs loath wearing coats in general - but they truly loath coats with hoods that encumber their heads and ears. It is easy to put on, easy to adjust, and has adjustments at all the critical points. The proof is in the results and, after a recent walk in a torrential downpour, I was pleased to find only her feet and lower legs wet upon returning home.An important note - correctly measuring your dog is CRUCIAL with this coat. I initially purchased one that was 2" too long, and had to deal with the aggravation of returning and reordering this coat. The length is the critical measurement and it is from the withers (not the neck) to the base of the tail that matters. They are reluctant to "do their business" even in a properly fitting coat, but get used to it over time. However, if the coat is too long (as mine initially was), it encumbers their tail and rear flanks and they are even more reluctant. Hurtta has some very specific information on their website about properly measuring your dog - be sure to review it before ordering.

The coat is very easy to put on him
I bought this coat for my male border collie who loves playing out in the rain. The coat is very well designed to keep the dog completely covered and dry. It also protects the dog's front belly and chest from mud and water while keeping the back area of the belly open for when nature calls. The coat has a snap at the back to secure it under the dog's tail and it has two elastic bands that loop around the dog's rear legs to keep the coat from sliding from side to side off the dog's back. My border collie love's wearing it. The coat is very easy to put on him. You just slip it over the dog's head, pull the flap under the belly, and fasten the waistband. He can run and play and slink around freely while wearing his rain coat. The fabric is good quality, the coat is fully lined, and I like that there is an opening for walking a dog who wears a harness. The collar of the coat can be folded back or pulled up to cover the dog's neck.I had to send the original coat back and order a different size because the first coat was too small. I was going off the size chart provided when I ordered this coat and yes, I did measure my dog properly using a proper tape measure. My border is tall and very long in the body, but he does not have a wide chest or belly. I was going off the measurement for his size around his chest because I wanted to make sure the strap fit securely. I have other coats for my border that might cover his back, but the band to secure the coat around his belly was way too big. According to the size chart and my dog's chest measurements, my border would need the 18" size. If I went by the length of his body, he would need the 26" size. So a big difference in sizes. I ordered a size in between the two sizes, the 22", and this size didn't really cover his body very well. I then ordered the 26" and this size fit him much better AND the band adjusted enough to fit around his belly. It's nice to know that with the larger coats, the belly band does adjust down to a much smaller size for those dogs who are not big in the chest.

We got two for our fur babies for when we go into the highlands these have surpassed our expectations and was worth every penny they fit brilliantly and keep them both nice and dry without getting overheated and still able to toilet when they want. What made it easier for us was we use Julius K9 harness on them both and the flap in the back was in the perfect place for the d ring on the harness for the leashes to clip on to. the dogs walked very comfortably in these coats what is a first for us, they are fussy and don't like to be restricted what these coats didn't d0.tough enough to put up with the unpredictable weather and winds in the highlands. I would highly recommend these make sure you get the measurements right we got a 26 and a 28.

Brilliant Dog Coat
This is the 2nd Hurtta Torrent coat we've bought. We bought the first one for our mountain dog and it works excellent in keeping him dry and clean in foul weather so decided to buy another for our 2nd dog. The quality is excellent and its easy to fit. Once fitted, it stays in place really well by the use of a couple of elasticated loops around the back legs and a strap with a clip that secures under the belly area. It sounds simple but this secures the coat even when the dogs are running and rolling around. Would definitely recommend; such a great product and the dogs love it.

Another hit with our dog
We bought this along with a Hurtta padded harness since the two are designed to work together (the harness can be worn under the coat and pokes out through a neat flap so it remains easy to attach a lead or just hold the harness loop). The coat really suits our Collie-cross and she is very happy to wear it on wet days. It seems secure enough to do its job well and helps keep her clean as well as dry. Most importantly she seems to have full freedom of movement when wearing this coat and it doesn't bother her at all - and that for me says more than any five star review.

I bought this coat for our Pomeranian hoping it would keep him much drier and I haven't been disappointed. He has a lot of hair and now most of it comes back from walks bone dry. It's an expensive coat but the quality speaks for itself. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Bright colour, good fit and easy to put on
Having trawled high and love for a certain colour and size for my wcs, i ended up ordering from USA.Product arrived much faster than expected and with no import duties to pay! :)Fits very well, colour looks amazing!Spaniel still runs freely in it and she can pee without fouling the jacket.Am unsure how well the coat will fair after she has run through some bushes, looks like it could tear/rip in the future.
