Beats paper by a mile
Nice. Solidly built. Seems like a good value. Also, sustainable. It fits my cheap Melita V60 funnel like a charm.

I'd give this thing TEN stars if I could!
This costs more than the usual nylon or steel screen filters, but man is it worth it! Rather than a screen, this is like a thin sheet of metal with tiny holes punched in it. It's coated with what must be a magic substance, and cleans up beautifully - it still looks and works just like it did when I took it out of the box it came in. It's solidly made and isn't showing any wear after a month and a half of daily use (read: two to 3 pots of coffee per day). Even so, I'll be ordering another one so I have an emergency spare. I get the heebie-jeebies just thinking about what would happen if the dog got ahold of it.Best part is there are never grounds in the bottom of my coffee pot any more - even when I grind it really fine, and my coffee tastes better.

Excellent performance
We have an Oxo 9 Cup and the basket filter failed after a year. Decided to give this Goldstone a chance with the reasonable price. Works fine and easy to keep clean - hand wash. If you want to keep the minor amount of grounds that seep through this basket, you will need to use a compostable filter. Cannot speak to longevity as have used for only a monthly. Recommend this product.

Buy this filter.
I've been using this for weeks now. It works perfectly. Now problems cleaning it. I rinse it every night with water. Every few days, I use a little dish soap to clean it. I have a Moccamaster coffee pot. The paper filters would clog the filter basket at times making a huge mess. This metal filter solves that problem.

Slightly cheaper than the Able filter and functionally the same
I recently got an AeroPress at home, and loved it so much I got a second one for work. It really is the easiest way to make a high-quality cup of coffee. I actually don't find the included paper filters to be much of a hassle at all (especially for cleanup), but I was curious about the metal disc and mesh-style filters might do as an alternative. Plus, sprinkling in few dozen uses of a reusable filter just means I'll have to buy new paper filters a little less often. As long as you understand that ALL of the reusable filters have slightly different results than the paper filter, I think the GoldTone is the best reusable option. The most popular "metal disc with small holes" version is made by Able, but it sells for about $12.50. This one was several dollars cheaper, reviewed well, and looks virtually the same. Indeed, it's very well made. It's thin, so you could easy bend/destroy it if you tried, but it should hold up well to repeated use-as-directed, or surviving drops. Some people prefer a little bit of body (sediment/particulates) in their coffee, while some prefer a clean cup. I can go either way. The normal AeroPress method is quite clean - maybe not as much as a Chemex method, but you won't find anything really sitting in the bottom of the cup. This GoldTone filter does allow some body through to the finished cup, but while you can visibly see it, it's extremely fine and barely even discernable as you finish the cup. I have to think it adds some variation and complexity to the flavor versus the paper filter, so if AeroPress is all about experimentation in the first place, it made sense to add this to my brewing arsenal. I would say that if I was going with a coarser grind, I might use the paper filter - the GoldTone might just let water through -too- easily with that setup. I tend to prefer medium or medium-fine recipes on AeroPress anyway. One note: The GoldTone lets water through even faster than the paper filter, so if you use the traditional method, steep times of more than 30 seconds might be affected. Of course, using the inverted method defeats this problem anyway, since water cannot escape out the bottom during steeping. On the positive side, it's slightly easier to plunge using the GoldTone versus paper (easier for pressure to escape). This filter delivered basically exactly as I expected it to. Although it's an extra step to clean up, I could easily see throwing it in the rotation if I'm in the mood for a cup with more body.

A keeper
After a few weeks of use, I think we have a winner here. I decided to go with the GoldTone brand filter as they have been making gold filters for decades. This filter is not a screen, as are some of the competing filters, nor is it homemade. Rather, it is professionally stamped from a sheet of stainless steel and has hundreds of tiny holes punched through its surface. I have not measured the holes, but they appear to be less than .010" inch in diameter. The filter itself is .007" thick, but still sturdy enough that you will not easily damage it. Do take care in handling, since the edges can be somewhat sharp from the manufacturing process. As with all such filters, I noted an increase in the pressure required to press the coffee through the Aeropress. This will vary with the fineness of the ground coffee, and coarsely ground French-press style coffee may not need much, if any, additional pressure. This filter does not clog easily and a quick rinse will often clear it out. I suspect that it is much better than the woven screen type filters in that regard, since there is no chance of coffee grounds being wedged into a weave. The more finely ground the coffee, the more likely that you will have a few holes clogged. After brewing, you may simply wipe the filter with a tissue or paper towel and rinse it under the faucet. I use a toothbrush to finish the job. If the toothbrush still leaves a few holes blocked (hold it up to a light to check), I then resort to an adjustable garden hose nozzle on "center" spray pattern, but make sure that I support the filter around the edges with my hand. If you brew consistently from the same side of the filter, any blockages can be removed from the opposite side. The filter has printing on one side so that you can orient it the same each time. The flavor of the coffee is improved in comparison to the Aeropress paper filters, as this filter (and all metal filters) allows the essential coffee oils through. I was pleasantly surprised that there is very little residue or fines in the cup. This filter is definitely worth a try if you love your Aeropress, but also love full-flavored coffee.
