1 star to 5 star updated review, this is a great product
Update 11/29/14 Yes I did change this review from a 1 start to a 5 star. The company has since updated their listing to clearly state that this is a craftsman compatible LIFT MASTER BRAND garage door keypad and not actually a craftsman brand keypad. Since they have updated their listing I am updating my review. If you read below, past my updated review, you will see why I gave it a 1 star when I first purchased it.The garage door keypad has worked very well with my craftsman garage door opener. It has been in operation for a little over a year and I have not had one issue with it. Still looks great and functions properly.Connecting this to my opener was easy, just follow the instructions. Do a little research on your garage door opener and make sure this is compatible before ordering. I will admit that most of my 1 star review was directed at the seller due to their listing practices and not of the actual product which worked from the start.Original review:The add clearly states craftsman product. When it arrived it was a lift master 877 max. I figured they mixed up something when shipping it out. I sent an email to the company and was told that craftsman was made by liftmaster and the 877 max was the same product In looks and function. So, then I asked if I could get a craftsman brand item, which is what I ordered in the first place. I was told they do not have any craftsman items. This is a deceitful listing. If you look for the liftmaster 877 max, which is what they send as a craftsman product it is listed for a cheaper price. Not very good business practice.

Works well with 102.1499A motor unit (purple learn button)
I bought this to replace a similar Craftsman compatible keypad opener that had stopped working reliably after 18 or so years. The 102.1499A Craftsman garage door opener/motor works well still so I didn't want to replace it with all new equipment. This new keypad works perfectly. Programed per instructions (had to hit enter and hold after initial pin entry while motor unit was in learn mode) and it worked the first time. The old one would not close all the time when we hit the enter button, even with new batteries. I think internal corrosion got the best of it finally and transmission distance suffered. Now the door opens and closes perfectly again via the keypad.I am a happy customer. Even came with a new 9 volt battery installed. I didn't expect that (maybe I missed that in the description). The title clearly states this is Craftsman Assurelink COMPATIBLE Liftmaster brand keypad opener, not a Craftsman brand opener.

Poor instructions - here's a tip
I thought this garage door remote didn't work with my opener. Following the included instructions, which differed from the instructions on my opener didn't get me anywhere. My husband instead ignored the instructions and was able to program it. Now it works perfectly; and is a nice looking unit.I have an older Craftsman garage door opener (1994). It has a green 'learn' button on the back. There is a green LED light on the back near this button but you also need to pay attention to the light bulb on the front of the opener when programming this remote key pad. Here's what worked for me. Press the * & # key at the same time until the keypad stops flashing. Next, enter a 4-digit code and press enter. 3rd, press the green learn button on the opener. Now look for the light bulb (not LED) to flash then press 0 on the remote key pad to finalize the programming. For our unit if you hold down the green learn button for 6 sec or more on the opener it clears all programming and you will have to reprogram all of your remotes.Hope this helps someone. I was ready to return this unit but am happy that my husband got it working (he's the best)! I would give this product 5 stars if the instructions worked.

Replaced Old with New Perfectly
Our Craftsman garage door opener was manufactured and installed in our garage in year 1995. After 24 years the transmitter we installed outside on our garage door trim stopped working. Located this replacement on Amazon. Received within about 5 days. Directions included are very clear and easy to understand. Directions include 7 steps and we found we needed to complete only steps 1-4 in order for the garage door to recognize the transmitter. We have a "green" learn button on our garage door opener and if you do also you probably will need to complete only steps 1-4 also. We had our garage door open as we programmed the transmitter: 1) press and hold the * and # buttons at same time on transmitter until keypad stops blinking; 2) enter your 4 digit personal identification number; then press #; 3) press and release Enter button on transmitter 4 times (if you have green learn button on your opener); and 4) exit programming by pressing the 0 button on transmitter. Your garage door should then close with that final step. It was very easy to program. Very happy we were able to locate this replacement transmitter for such an old garage door opener.

Did Not Work For Me
For some reason it did not work from outside the garage door about 12.5 feet away. If I stood under the door motor it worked so I know it programed correctly. I also know sometimes the new bulbs interfere with the signal so I use the old incandescent bulbs. I returned it. So disappointing.

Good product so far
Like a few others have stated, I was somewhat concerned when I opened the package and found that this was not a Craftsman keypad like I expected. However, I followed the instructions to program it, and it works perfectly. Programming only took a few minutes. It even came with a battery which I was not expecting. I have only had it for a short time, so I can't comment on longevity. But it works great now, and was a lot less expensive than the ones from Sears, or other local stores. I hope that it lasts longer than the $40+ Craftsman that quit working in about 2 years. Time will tell.

Works 85% of the time the first time and then 15% of the time on the second try
works as expected...sometimes though I have to put in the code twice before the garage door opens.

open sesame
Worked first try. Didn't even need to play around with it except to close the garage; did not require the code, just a single press of the enter button. Would say i couldn't be happier, but if the price were lower, then i would be (happier)
