Great quality heating pad.
Bought for daughter's painful joints. She wanted a heat pad that didn't get damp and uncomfortable like a lot of the others on the market. This stays dry!It also stays warm for a couple of hours and seems to ease joint pain a little.Excellent quality which is reflected in the price.

Superior to traditional hot water bottles…?
Living in an aged house with negligible insulation and draughts aplenty I probably feel those winter chills more than most. In recent years these issues have been compounded by soaring energy bills prompting me to seek alternatives to traditional hot water bottles. As such my search led me to microwaveable heat emitting pads, i.e. ‘Hotties’.Based on personal experience the list below offers both pros and cons for the Hotties system that should help potential users in making a purchase (or not!):Pros(1) Convenient(2) Quick operation via microwave (1 min 10 secs for each side using a 900W model)(3) More energy efficient (i.e. uses less energy in operation overall)(4) Less components for operation (i.e. no water required!)(5) Decent heat emission(6) Less cumbersome (if secured to body whilst moving around indoors)(7) Far less susceptible to contents leakageCons(1) Affordable yet still more expensive to purchase than bottles(2) Restricted in size by need to fit in conventional microwaves(3) Inferior heat retention (i.e. loses warmth faster than bottles)(4) A Hotties’ thermal pack or ‘core’ emits increasingly less heat with protracted use(5) Fabric cover is mandatory otherwise core is far too hot against exposed or minimally covered skin(6) Cores require replacing more often than bottles (contingent to frequency of use of course)CONCLUSIONUltimately personal circumstances will dictate which of the aforementioned pros and cons are most relevant to you. For this reviewer at least shortcomings are mostly irrelevant when compared to the benefits.Highly recommended.

Winter warmer
Bought this for my elderly aunt who struggles with hot water bottles as she has very shaky hands. This is safe and she tells me the warmth lasts all night.

Safe and easy to use.
This was bought for an elderly lady and has proved to be invaluable. No more trying to fill a conventional rubber hot water bottle with very hot water and no more struggling to tighten or loosen the screw stopper.Worth every penny.Woukd highly recommend.

Defective item
REALLY disappointed. This item came quickly and looked as ordered. However, I placed it in my microwave (800 watts) for only 1.1/2 minutes to test it and it immediately leaked from a small hole on the edge, so I was unable to use it.I had one before which I, by mistake, heated on too high a temperature, so I am well aware of not doing this again.
