Optelec 5X/16D PowerMag+ Bright White LED Hand-Held Magnifier

Purchased for my aunt who has poor vision, its a little expensive but is build well, easy access to battery compartment even for a person who has very little sight, and has a clear image when used.

Used by my 103 year-old mother who has macular degeneration and arthritic hands. There is no distortion of images so often found in cheaper products, and the light weight and concentrated bright LED lights and no heat are wonderful characteristics as well. I had purchased one for her about 18 months ago and would have bought again sooner had they been in stock. With the latest purchase of two more, she now has 3 of them strategically placed around her apartment. We couldn't be happier with this product and highly recommend it.

Ordered the 5x handheld Optilek magnifier due to needing a strongr magnification. Presently use the 4x. Received the 6x. Although magnification is better the circumference of the model is too small. Viewing anything is done in small segments. The magnifier is also made of a cheaper plastic and the price is $95!!! plus shipping, so $105. Very disappointed that Optilek would cheapen product for folks struggling with severe vision loss.. I was initially advised thru vision rehab at Mass Eye and Ear in Boston due to severe macular degeneration and was initially ecstatic to be shown the 4x model at the time which has helped consideraby. I will keep the 5x but am not pleased with quality / viewing area and price

Update:: after going through Amazon the seller did refund so thank you so much for that for that.Original:: Can’t return it even tho it says eligible for return. Doesn’t work right - have a 4x that works great but it is broken. So now I have wasted $100 and can’t use it. The description states eligible for Return. . I guess you can’t believe what they print.

I bought this for my mother. She has macular degeneration and cannot see anything without light and magnification. This is portable and she can carry it in her purse and it helps her to be able to see some menus and other things when she's away from a powerful light source.

I purchased this for my friend who is diagnosed with macular degeneration. She is pleased with the item and is able to use it for reading books and using on her iPad.

For what this magnifier cost it falls apart very easy. It works good but comes apart where you put the batteries in. For an elderly person who can't see too good it's not so good when it breaks. Cost is way to high for the value.
