I have short, coarse, thick, wavy-to-curly grey hair. I used to use the gel pomade, which is about half the price or less, and which the woman who cuts my hair introduced me to years and years ago. That's a good product, too, but for my purposes this is much better. It adds a nice shine to my gray hair, and adds separation to what might otherwise be frizz, and provides hold without stiffness. It may have a mild scent--I'm not even sure, since if it does, it's pretty unobtrusive. It's a gender-neutral product. I'm a woman, and I think this is the best pomade I've ever used.

I love this stuff. Used to get it at my barber but he stopped selling it because it keeps getting more expensive. Great hold/flexibility, is never greasy or hard. It's the cleanest product I've ever used.

Love at first sight/feel/smell. I bought the Imperial pomade based on the reviews here on Amazon. I had been looking for a new product to transition to from Layrite. I feel like the Layrite quality has diminished and they are using more and more synthetic ingredients, this part is fact not assumption. Whereas I used to feel Layrite left my hair feeling soft and healthy afterwards, not I feel like it leaves it thin and brittle. Plus they've been increasing the price slowly over the last few years, with a %50 hike over the last 5. So, Layrite no more. The Imperial is great. It smells like manly gummy bears but isn't overpowering. Every once and awhile I'd turn and catch a whif throughout the day. It has a unique texture that isn't quite smooth but isn't quite matte. If you style frugally I'd imagine this 6oz can will last a while. I was burning through the 4oz Layrite every 2-3 weeks but I feel this 6oz can will last me 2 months. I wet my hair and then styled with a Kent comb while blowdrying, then applied the pomade to establish my part and work the rest into a classic pompadour. Since it was my first time I certainly used more than I needed to but now I know where to start. I am sold on the quality of this product. I have used several water based products (Layrite, Suavecito, Uppercut) and oil based (Murray's, Ace, Bees Knees) and I am by far the most impressed by the Imperial brand. Perfect balance of hold, pliability, sheene and feel. 5 stars!

This is a great pomade that smells great and the hold is just right. Not too stiff and not so soft to where a gust of wind would make you run to the nearest mirror. The shine is also just right (for my taste) as it isn't super shiny like you would get from Crew pomade. The best thing is that after it's dried in your hair, you can run your fingers through your hair to break up the hold a little more and even add a little more volume and take the shine down a little (for those of us who don't want that shiny super slick look). Last but not least, for $25, its a great deal considering the 6 oz you get... oh and it's also water-based, which means it washes out easily.
