Great Sleeping Pad on a Budget
I purchased this sleeping pad back in 2022 and have now used it on many camping trips across all seasons. It is a great piece of gear, and has been durable as well as comfortable. Takes a few minutes to inflate but I set up other stuff around camp while it's filling. You can top off with a few breaths if you want firmer sleep. Packing is also simple. My most recent trip was car camping, and the tent site was quite rocky. The Gear Doctor pad really helped sitting on tent floor and tarp. Plus, it was unseasonably chilly and the pad kept me nice and warm under my sleeping bag. I am 6 ft, 180lbs, and it's plenty big. I tend to leave it slightly under inflated so it won't slide and is a bit more comfortable. It's been stomped on, tossed around, stuff dropped on it, and never any issues. It's extremely light, but a little bulky for REALLY ultra-light backpacking. Takes up a decent portion of my 40 liter pack. That said, it works great and beats sleeping on the ground or the thin "yoga mat" style pads.I've been very happy with the Gear Doctors sleeping pad long-term and feel good knowing it has a lifetime warranty. If you're considering it, go for it.

Great value! Expecting good things from this pad.
I purchased this pad as a backup for my Big Agnus. I go on a Colorado high country hunting trip every Sept.I compared the 2 side by side and have some information for others if interested.CostThe top quality pads are traditionally around $200 but this pad is half of that. Also, this pad comes with an inflation bag. I had to purchase that separate with the Big Agnus as you can see the orange inflater bag is from Sea to Summit.WeightGear Dr (GD) - 16.8 ozBig Agnus Q Core SLX (BA) - 17.6 ozSize and ShapeAs you can see, the GD is a little longer and has more of a mummy shape. It also packs down a little smaller.Take into consideration that I have used the BA many times before and that the GD is new and we all know things are smaller new as you can never get them back into the original packaging.NoiseThis is always the challenge with UL pads. They may be super light, but they sound like you are rolling around on a snare drum. I had the NeoAir pad in the past and it was light as could be but too noisy for me.The BA is slightly quieter and it has a softer feel to the touch. I have not slept on the GD pad yet but in my initial comparison, it does not seem to be significant. Nights on the pad will tell.Considerations and OpinionsThe BA pad has the ability to inflate it and push a value to let air out a little at a time. This allows easy adjustment to your preferred comfort. The GD pad does not. However, I under inflated the GD pad and then just added air a breath at a time and this was an easy fix.In my opinion, I think this pad will be great for back sleepers. The baffles are left to right. I prefer up and down baffles as (at least in my head) this helps me from rolling off the pad at night.Overall,I really like this pad and plan to test it next month to see how it performs in the mountains. I was not able to rate the sleeping comfort at this time but by initial assessment is positive. I prefer a slightly under-inflated pad to over-inflated for my sleeping comfort. Beginners traditionally inflate to max fill and then the pad is more like a trampoline than a sleeping pad. I made this mistake early in my backpacking but not anymore.Overall, I think this pad has a lot of potential. It's less than half the cost and lighter in weight that my current pad. For the younger cost conscious back sleepers out there, I think this is certainly an item where you can save a few bucks and still get a good UL pad. The cost to weight ratio is excellent. Take the money you save here and put that toward a better bag or quilt. This may also serve the side sleepers out there...Time will tell as to the quality and durability but the company has a lifetime warranty.Overall, I would recommend this purchase and have recommended it to others that are going on the trip with me this Sept.

PCT thruhike approved
Let me start by saying that I had been asked by the company owner to review the product right after I had received it in the mail. I didn't do that. I wanted to truly test it before writing anything about it.I bought it to be used during my Pacific Crest Trail thruhike, which took about 5 months to complete. My body has a hard time regulating its temperature. It's always too hot or way too cold. Coming from Hawaii where my body only knew what 70⁰ and 80⁰ temperatures were, I was scared I'd be cold at night on those 20-40⁰ nights in the California desert all the way up the the Canadian border in September's cold temps.I have a Dan Durston X-Mid 2p tent. I slept on the Gear Doctors Apollo Air pad and used the Hyke & Byke Eolus 0⁰F 800FP Goose Down sleeping bag. I slept comfortably on most nights. I was only cold whenever my feet had slid off the pad. Which proves its efficiency. Another thing to notice is that even though the pad does make sounds when you move around, it was one of the quietest pad out on the trail. Thermarests SUCK! They are soooo loud that I couldn't sleep a few nights because other hikers nearby were using that pad. Even with earplugs, I'd still hear the thermarest! The Apolo Air definitely kept me warm, was super easy to deflate and fold into it's little bag. However, the inflating bag isn't that great, especially for the extra weight. It also failed on me. It had a leak right on the grey valve. Making it super slow to inflate it. So I ended up ditching the inflation bag and inflated the pad by mouth after the Sierra Nevada. Which I know probably decreased the durability and usability of the pad. Because it'll create mold on the inside since there's a lot of moisture in our breath, especially if compared to the dry air pumped in by the inflation bag.I wish it was a little bit lighter in weight. But considering its R-Value and durability, plus a more affordable price under the $100 mark, you can't beat it!A lot of my friends on the trail slept cold and or had to deal with the extremely loud noise from their super expensive pads. So I'm super happy with my purchase and I hope it won't get moldy. We shall see.Overall, I absolutely recommend this sleeping pad for nights in the teens all the way up to the 100⁰F. Thanks Gear Doctors for a great product!I posted a photo of the pad after 5.5 months of using it pretty much every night. My 5 year old goddaughter is laying on it. It got dirty, but still functions perfectly, minus the inflation bag.

Worked Great For Cold Backpacking, Side-sleepers and People that are 6ft Under; Execellent for PRICE
I bought this Sleeping Pad based on the reviews for Budget Cold Camping and Underpad R-values for a backpacking trip I planned for a couple days. The days were said to drop to -1 to -2 in the night, so right before the trip, we planned for a little worse temperature than that and the Underpad has a high r-value, so I did not feel concerned sleeping in worse temperatures. To the actual experience, the idea of the air bag for inflating is a great idea to stop moisture but if its raining and you have to do it outside not sure how well it'll prevent moisture from going into the underpad from the air. Surprisingly, the air bag once you give it a little practice is actually pretty easy to use and inflate the underpad. The plug mechanism is a great design and was easy to open and close the valve/plug when inflating.I am currently 6ft on the dot, 160lbs, and the underpad was just long enough for me to fit; just wide enough as well as i am pretty wide for it to not feel like laying on a bench in the gym. I also have my arms pretty close to me if you tend to spread your arms out they may be off the underpad. So that was good, of course make sure to measure it out as I did before purchasing. It unpacks and packs up very easily and compact compared to many other underpads, it just a little bigger than a thick round pencil case. Weight is pretty good compared to competitors, you can ditch the air bag and use your mouth to inflate it if you do not care about moisture in the underpad and want to reduce weight. You could use air bag as a dry bag if you choose. It happen to snow and drop to -6 in the nights I was staying and i did not feel the cold ground or cold underside so that was big plus. I also tend to sleep on my sides and one of my concerns was that my elbows/pointy hips would go through the underpad and hit the ground. However, when inflated all the way I was perfect and it was pretty comfy and strong. The thickness was surprising and pretty good comparing to my partners underpad. I would suggest practicing blowing it up with the air bag before going on a trip because you want to be efficient in doing it where the air bag is full of air each time. Also, to check for holes or damages which mine was perfect no leaks or any damages when used but also comes with a patch kit which is another big plus. The underpad is not square but I did not need a square underpad. The underpad is not noisy and getting on it and off it makes little to no noise. Did not loose volume during the night but as per most people tell you to top up your underpad before sleeping which i did so still great. For the price tremendous value would definitely recommend to a friend.

Well made product of the highest quality.
This is a really well made and comfortable mat. It self inflates within minutes and if you prefer you can just add a bit more sturdiness by blowing a few breaths of air into the nozzle. I was camping in the Cairngorms last week in winter conditions and have used various other mats made by other companies in similar situations but none of them kept me as warm in my sleeping bag as my Gear Doctors one.The actual owner of the family based company Mike has personally contacted me for my opinion of his product and asked if I have had any problems with it which I haven't but was told by him that if there happened to be in the future he assured me that he has given all of his products a warranty that he will stand by 100%I have purchased many products from numerous sellers and have never been notified personally by the owner of the company and to me that speaks volumes of how much pride he takes in both the quality of his work and the opinion and aftercare of his customers.I have already been recommendingGear Doctors to some of my climbingcolleagues.
