The size is on the small side compared to other products but the quality is great and made my miso soup taste authentic.

Real Japanese miso, with about a year before expiration date. Package is messy to work with but it being just a plastic bag ensures it arrives sealed - just put in in a clean glass jar in your fridge to use and store. Light tan in color. Adds nice oomph to soups.

I ordered a package of both aka-red miso and shiro-white miso, they arrived this morning and the shiro-white miso is a dark orange not a light yellow as it should be, indicating it has fermented too long; it's almost become aka-red miso.

I like that this white miso tastes like it should.I like that this miso is a reasonable price.I like that this miso is non-GMO.I dislike that it is packaged in a bag, but I like that it did not spill out during shipping as other packages do.I dislike that all my reviews get rejected for no apparent reason, and this just may be the last positive review I bother leaving for any product if they continue to reject without explanation.

This is our favorite soybean paste for making miso soup. Like all such pastes, it is very salty, so use cautiously the first time. Add a little at a time until you have the depth of flavor you most like. The package is generous and will get you a whole lot of miso soup (or other miso containing dishes).

Unfortunately, my miso came in brown in color and sour to the taste meaning it has fermented. Extremely disappointed because you can't return this item.
