Villeroy & Boch Urban Nature 10-1/2-Inch by 7-3/4-Inch Salad Plate: Coupe Shape

My husband & I had previously purchased 2 of these salad plates & liked them so much that we decided to purchase 4 more.They fit in nicely with our Villeroy & Boch "Naïf" set, which we have had for 25 years with nary a broken dish.

The plates are made of fairly thick porcelain, so are up to withstanding the rigours of daily use (being perfectly sized to take two slices of toast side by side without danger of toppings spilling over the edges). They also look good enough to be put to use at parties as serving platters where they have been much admired.The plates are purchased separately so a collection can be built up over time and each one arrives wrapped securely in a large box so there is no danger of breakage. They stack well although they are on the heavy side so I keep them in two separate cupboards to spread the weight a bit. They are mostly flat and curve up slightly around the edge - I have added some photographs to illustrate.I use these plates virtually every day and their size and shape has enabled me to be a little more artistic in terms of food presentation, whether for a basic something-on-toast or a more sophisticated gourmet offering.
