No periodontal issues, just wanted a cleaner mouth.
I used to think that brushing and flossing and a clean diet were all that was needed for tip top oral care. The dentist says my teeth and gums are absolutely perfect, and I've never had any problems (other than breaking a tooth). I purchased this irrigator after reading something talking about how beneficial they are for PREVENTING gum issues. I chose to purchase the ViaJet simply from the reviews. I do NOT use the solution that they recommend, just straight water. I am strongly against putting chemicals into my body or using them in my mouth. Like I said, I have no gum issues, so I use it on full blast. It gives me a slight massaging feel. It actually feels quite nice. I floss every day so I was surprised at how much cleaner my mouth felt from using this. I go across the gum line and down between the teeth. I go all around, front and back. The place I noticed the most significant difference was at a crown that I have. I broke a tooth and had it crowned. The crown has always been kind of a problem in comparison to my other teeth. I have to spend more time flossing around it. There is always more stuff to get and I have to go way up inside my gumline. When you're flossing and you know you've hit a nasty spot because it has an odor to it, that's what I would have pretty far inside my gumline with this crown. I would floss and floss until no more smell. Well, enter ViaJet into the picture. I hit that crown, even after flossing, and YUCK! Instant smell. I just THOUGHT I was getting it clean. I also encountered that on other spots though nowhere near as noticeable as the crown. When I use this irrigator every day, I don't have any problems. However, if I skip a day or two, even though I continue flossing, I find yucky spots when irrigating. Especially that crown. You know how when you floss every day but then skip a day you go all day just feeling nasty? Well, it's the same thing when I skip a day of the ViaJet. I know how much cleaner my mouth is when using it, and I'm so glad I purchased it.

replaced my waterpic
I became so frustrated with Waterpic devices. THe first one I bought 25 years ago was great. Every one since then has had some flaw in it's design and they last about 1/3 as long as the old one. I didn't want another "Waterpic" because of their poor quality. So I tried the Interplac....It was okay but not great. This one is as good as the waterpic. It's easy to use, good pressure. Does the job. Only had it for one month so the durability still to be determined. But at least it's not a "waterpic".For a comparable price as the last waterpic I bought, this is a better appliance.Addendum: It's been three months now and I am totally happy with this device. I am glad I bought it.Add #2: Six months now and I love this unit. No problems, easy to use, works as good as new. I use it every day.#3. It's been a year now and I am still completely pleased with this product. No complaints at all.#4. Approaching two years, (three months short) and I noticed that the motor makes a slight moaning sound when I turn it off. The unit still works great. No leaks, good pressure. I use it every day.#5 Finally gave it up. The motor got tired and inconsistent so I had to toss it. It lasted just over 2 years. I would rate this as the best device for the $$ that I have ever used.

I think that it is a really good product so far.
I received a rechargable waterflosser on 10-2012 because I was recently informed by my dentist that I had gum disease. I really liked how it worked and how my teeth felt afterward. My wife and I used it daily for about three month until it died and would no longer hold a charge. I decided to get another irrigator because I know we would continue using it and could justify the expense. I did not want another waterpik because the last one was not reliable. I read many reviews that mentioned problems with leaking and unhappy customers that had bought old waterpiks that lasted for years and that the new ones were junk.I did however find a lot of good reviews about the ViaJet pro. Both of us really love it. I like the tank that allows you to clean all of your teeth with one fill. I like not relying on batteries for power. I think that the waterpik had more power but my wife thinks the oposite and it and does an excellent job cleaning. My wife has bridges and crowns that were extremely difficult to clean with floss but the ViaJet blasts them clean in no time and little effort. We have only had it for 3 months with two people using it twice a day but have had no problems with leaking, power, or product quality. If product quality is important to you I will mention that the ViaJet is made in Taiwan and the waterpik is made in china. I will let you draw your own conclusions.

Much better than Waterpic!
Our dentist sold us our first one and it lasted for many years. Because Viajet isn't sold in stores, we bought a Waterpic when our first Viajet finally gave out. It was a mistake! We went back to the Viaget and will never get anything else. Our gums are in such better health. I am 78 years old and I never floss my teeth but use this instead and my dentist is always very pleased with my gums. Earlier in my life, my dentist thought I was going to have to have gum surgery my gums were so bad. This is what cured the problem!
