Few musicians have embodied the romantic, and ultimately tragic, jazz figure as totally as Chesney "Chet" Baker (1929-88). Unschooled yet eloquent in his music, the Baker mystique has only reinforced one of the most haunting trumpet styles and ingenuous approaches to jazz singing. Chet is Chet Baker's classic 1959 Riverside album featuring jazz legends Bill Evans, Kenny Burrell, Herbie Mann and Pepper Adams. Cut from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. 180-gram LP.

Just get this! It's sublime!
I am just floored at how good this record is. This is a review of the Craft 2021 issue cut by Kevin Gray. The disc is perfectly quiet all throughout. Really important for this quiet music. It is perfectly centered, beautiful reproduction of the labels from the period, and the single pocket glossy tip on jacket looks fantastic. Then there's the music! I've been exploring jazz in the last couple of years with releases from Music Matters, Analogue Productions and more recently Blue Note Tone Poet and Classic series. This might be my favorite of the 50 or so titles I've purchased. I really love the smooth relaxed pace of this session. What an ensemble they put together for this session! Don't even hesitate, just get it. A total steal at $24.

Wonderful and Beautiful Beyond Words.
I don’t have words that can describe how amazing is the quality of the sound, “audiophile “ it is. The album itself is a timeless beauty. My favorite Chet Baker album, that includes Paul Chambers in bass, Pepper Adams in baritone sax, the great Kenny Burrell on guitar, then Herbie Mann on flute and when you think cannot get better than that, you have Bill Evans on piano. The distribution of the sound is almost magical, great pressing.

Love the this LP, Side 2 has noise
Great Lp. This is my second one. First one arrived with a scratch across side 1 right out of the package. Easy Amazon return for a replacement. On the replacement, side one is great. clear with no noticeable pops or clicks. Side 2 is another story. Like others have said, side 2 has lots of pops and clicks throughout. Cleaning with brushes does nothing. I guess it's part of this record's manufacturing, packaging or something. Does come in a nice anti-static sleave. Didn't help side 2 though.

One of the best jazz records of all time.
I cannot describe to you how good this album is unless you heard it for yourself on vinyl with good sound system. Chet Baker is really at top of his game here and the rest of the musicians of course top players of the time; Herbie Mann on flute, Pepper Adams on baritone sax, great Bill Evans on piano, Kenny Burrell on guitar, Paul Chambers on bass and others on different tracks. This is in my opinion one of the best jazz albums of all time. If you like Chet Baker then this is a must have album for your collection.
