Blood Memory: An autobiography Hardcover – August 1, 1991

I bought this book after reading a critical review of a non-dancer, a participant in "Dancing with the Stars" and where a quote was taken from Graham's book, "Movement never lies," to describe what he obviously lacked, though the audience still voted him on... This autobiography is a great introduction to her mindset, her philosophy, and her interaction with the greats of her time (Helen Keller, Bette Davis, Rudolph Nureyev, Liza Minnelli, Halston, etc.). The black-and-white photos are stunning, albeit, not consistently chronological. The narrative itself presents as a stream-of-consciousness and is loosely themed. Graham affords the reader a revealing glimpse of how creative minds work, how deep a body of work defines who you are, and the motivation to go on, even at 96 years old and post-stroke, because--well--life just continues...!

A “must have” text if you’re studying the Martha Graham technique or methodology. A lot of insight on her thoughts, work and life in general. This was a gift for a dancer friend and she went nuts.

Wonderful biography.

Wonderful Book! It came to me brand new and I was reading it every free moment I had. Without sounding too cheesy, I would say this book speaks to my soul. Great book for dancers and non-dancers alike.

The Book Blood Memory: An autobiography, described her life, views and influence on modern dance in it's entirety. Reading her personal quotes on Modern dance was very inspiring

It took a long time for the book to arrive - more than 3 weeks. But i was most disappointed at the poor condition of the book. There were permanent markings in the first few pages of the book. None of these has been mentioned.

Amazing story

Bought this book second hand. It belonged to a library in the US and I love that as it still has the card with all the names of people who borrowed it. I carry this book with me everywhere I go. The insight to Martha Graham's life provided in this book is fantastic and inspiring. Very pleased with my purchase!

Fascinating insights into Graham's life and philosophy.
