Winner!
As a mom of four kids, elementary to middle school age, this is a great buy! The author really connects non-fiction material in a relatable, interesting manner. Very reader friendly and the book looks and feels great. My sixth and fourth graders go back and forth sharing “fun facts” at bedtime. This is the kind of book you didn’t know you needed, but is filled with “nuggets” that will surely up your chances of winning the nightly Jeopardy game from the sofa or give some great conversation starters at the dinner table. It will also renew your wonder and amazement when looking up at a starry sky—as an adult or child. From the teacher perspective, this would be an awesome classroom set for upper elementary or middle school or a great addition to the school library. A solid, enjoyable book with many applicable uses and audiences.

Read it early, read it later down the road
So I homeschool with a personalized curriculum, and I bought this book to replace an outdated one. I first noted that it was very wordy and I'm schooling a 6yo with adhd so I needed to go through and highlight the points that they would be interested in most and understand. What I really love about this book is that the information is on a mixed reading level it seems, like it has enthusiastic diction that can excite a child's interest but can also inform them of the advanced concepts of space and the planets. Everything I highlight, I can reread to my child when they're 7, 8, or have them read, but the information that I include in the lesson can grow with them without being to "baby-ish" or dry like a college textbook. This is so well written! Major respect, Lisa Reichley!

BUY IT NOW
I purchased this for my third grade son when he had to do a report on Saturn. But I was amazed at the quantity and quality of information it contains! This would be great for kids and adults alike! I like to think I’m a fairly savvy adult and even I learned a ton from reading it! The picture quality is amazing and there are so many fun interesting facts. And it’s not just planets. There is a ton of information on moons, astroids, and other space bodies as well. Some words and information were slightly difficult for my third grader to comprehend, but he got through most of it without much trouble. Slightly older kids should have no problem.
