Works very well and I can use Foodsaver bags with no issues
The media could not be loaded. This is a review of the Anova Culinary Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro, Includes 1 Bag Roll, For Sous Vide and Food Storage, black, mediumMy old Foodsaver Vacuum Sealer machine finally bit the dust. I was kind of shocked how expensive they've become so I started looking for an alternative. I discovered the Anova brand and bought this model. I've been very pleased with the performance and ease of operation. Some people have complained that they cannot use Foodsaver brand rolls in this, well I use that brand since I had a numerous rolls left when my old machine died. Happily the roll works perfectly in this new Anova machine. What stands out to me is that this double seals the bags which gives me much more confidence that the contents are air-tight.What bothers me a little bit is that it does take longer for this to seal the bag than my previous machine. But that is just a minor complaint. The build quality seems fine to me and the suction power is great. No issues so far and I've had this for about 6 months and use it several times a week.

Works very well, but requires some care
The sealer is easy to use, but I have found one issue. I sealed a bunch of bags of precious coffee beans. This machine even sucked the air out of the factor-sealed bags. The bags were hard as bricks when it's done, and have stayed that way for the last week.I had no sealing failures until I got near the end of the roll. I found it very difficult to get the edge of the bag to lay completely flat over the vacuum tray because the bags want to curl too much. My solution is to have at least 2 inches of bag sticking out, and to use the pulse vacuum to manually get the process started. This way, you can quickly detect a wrinkle that is causing a leak and stop the process to fix it. Saves a lot of bags. Once partially evacuated manually, I push the" vacuum and seal" button to let the machine finish the process normally. Small things, like burger patties, do not seem to be any problem.Just to be sure, I tried Wevac and FoodSaver bags and had similar issues sealing the big bean bags. I'd give Anova a slight edge in ease of use over the bargain and $$ brands.

Nice machine
I went through four or five of the popular name brand Vacuum Sealers in the last decade. I use the dickens out of these things. This machine seems more heavy duty in construction. The vacuum pump seems a bit more powerful too. It is agnostic to the brand of bag or roll being used, I haven’t found one that hasn’t worked. The vacuum port works amazing. I store spices, spice blends, and some whole cooking ingredients in mason jars that I vacuum seal. You need to stab the hose barb in all the way to get the port to function. The double seal has not failed me once so that’s a plus. The only thing that would make it more handy would be a removable spill tray but that’s not a deal breaker or a reason not to buy in my opinion.I’m very happy with this purchase.

Previous review was mistaken....the machine is wonderful, customer service is wonderful
This is a review of two machines, so it isn't just a 'lemon'. It does a beautiful job...until a few days later the vacuum has failed and the tightly sealed bag is puffed out with air. The first machine failed after it was too late to return to Amazon, so I called Anova and their response was wonderful. They have a two-year warranty, they made it simple to return the defective machine and sent me a new one. And the same thing happened! I will contact them again, probably get another one, but I am not optimistic. I am a very experienced user. Have had several Foodsaver machines over the years, and thought I would try this new, highly reviewed brand. Very disappointedAbove is my first review. Since then the replacement machine has worked flawlessly.. Seals quickly, vacuums beautifully, the vacuum lasts. I have a hypothesis that when the replacement machine vacuum failed it was because it was still cold from the sub-zero temperatures and I tried to use it immediately.Anyway the only reason I don't give it a five-star rating is that the first machine failed. But it was replaced without question and without any charge to me. And their customer service is amazing. Highly recommended!

DO NOT BUY. Cheap junk.
Junk, You can only use Anova bags or rolls, it will not seal other brand bags like foodsaver brand or the Costco brand bags. The heating sealing elements don't get hot enough and the unit doesn't clamp down tight enough to seal them. Even using the suppied bags if there is a wrinkle or crease in the bag it won't seal. If there is moisture from your food, like chicken, the unit cannot seal the bag. I purchased this unit to replace a Foodsave brand unit I'd had for years, I didn't get to use it before my 30 days were up for the return so im just stuck with trashing it and buying anything else. I have NOTHING good to say about this vacuum sealer.

Cost Saving Super Machine
Wish I had gotten one of these sooner. It is a breeze to seal just about anything you wish to keep fresh for awhile. I particularly like it for the bulk meal packages we buy at Costco. I portion out the number of steaks, pork chops, etc. for a meal, vacuum seal and freeze. The meat looks exactly as fresh when you take it out of the freezer months later as when you first purchased it. You don't experience ice build up or discoloration that you do with freezer bag storage. I even sealed fresh bagels and they kept in the refrigerator for more than a week and were just as fresh as when we bought them from the bagel shop. I don't know how we survived before this. Highly recommend.
