The concept is sound and that is why I got it for my son who already was counting to nearly 20 and knew his alphabet and some of the phonics. However, when I went to use this with him the very first word I pulled out was "SNOW" with the cube combinations we were dealt we couldn't spell out that word. These were the cubes we were dealt in the box: V U T Z W Y T V Y W U Z G I K J L H B F C A D E G L J H K I O M P R S N S N O R W P B D A E F C I haven't even bothered looking to see if there were other combinations we couldn't make to be perfectly honest but literally all the letters to spell "SNOW" were on 2 cubes and even on a single cube. If I can't make all the words in the box it is not as useful and requires me to do much more work than should be necessary. I would have expected a designer to create an algorithm to prevent something like this from happening but mistakes happen. We will be returning this item and I will simply use our letter tiles with printed pictures with caption instead.
