Needed some modification. The shaft is way too long to fit in an Arbor press - I knew that before I bought it. I didn't know that two of the three cauls wouldn't fit - they needed grinding with a Dremel to make them fit correctly. Other than that, it's fine.

Bought to put frets in which is he point of it. Got as far as 13th fret and the end snapped off.. Looking at the point where it snapped it was the metal was 2 different colours which suggests poor metal was used in the production process. The groove where the grub screw sits to hold the caul holder to the shaft was far too deep and was where the shaft snapped. Luckily I'm creative and managed to repair it and make it much stronger with the help of a file or 2 and a pillar drill, as you can see from the 1st photo the groove is just deep enough to seat the grob screw which then locks the caul holder in place. There is no longer any wobble as everything fits tightly.. Definitely not worth the £19.99 I paid for it as it didn't even last long enough to finish the frets on a single neck

This is an excellent product. Build quality feels really heavy and solid. Nice free movement in the joint where you need it. The finish is lovely and smooth and feels a lot nicer than some of the bare metal offerings you see - a real nice quality piece. BUT... I have only one teeny weeny criticism... The replaceable caul inserts are a tad tight... They require a lot of pressure to get them in, and 0nce they're in, you've got a struggle on your hands to get them back out again (and yes, I did loosen off the grub screw)... The issue appears to be because of the finish that's been applied to the parts to keep them protected and nice... My advice is to lightly file the inside of the caul slot into which the inserts are placed, just to make it a tiny bit wider and allow better access.. It doesn't take much, and you'll have an incredible fret pressing caul...

I've just used this to re-fret my guitar and it works perfectly for what I need. It's cheap and the quality is good for the price. I did buy a cheaper one from a Chinese site but got refunded because the quality was very poor and actually unusable. This one works.

Ho rifatto la tastiera di una chitarra acustica. L'ho utilizzato solo per una parte di tasti, utilizzando un sergente da falegname per fare pressione, senza motare il perno cilindrico in dotazione. Penso si possa usare anche "a martello" ma bisogna avere l'accortezza di appoggiare il manico su di un supporto solido che non danneggi il legno. Ideale avere la pressa, ma allora si deve mettere in conto una spesa rilevante che non giustifica il cambio tasti "fai da te". Pertanto la valutazione è per me interlocutoria, non mi è stato indispensabile, alla luce dell'esperienza fatta, non lo comprerei più; ho fatto un buon lavoro usandolo poco e solo perché l'avevo comperato.

Much better quality than the gold plated sets in here. You get fewer cauls, but these actually work. The grooves for the frets are all the way through the cauls and not only partially as the other sets. I recommend this set

When used with a tabletop drill press, this device worked great! Even pressure. Accurate radius.
