A Great Product
This was one of the best purchases we have made on Amazon. Drinkmate is all that it advertises. The carbonator is effective, easy to operate, and does what it's supposed to do. We have saved many dollars and helped the environment by making our own seltzer water whenever we want it.Additionally, Drinkmate is extremely consumer-friendly. You simply send the empty cylinders to them (via UPS at no charge) and they give you a $20 discount on two new cylinders, and then ship them to your door - at no charge. Their syrups are reasonably priced and produce a great many glasses of cola, or lemon-lime, or many other flavors (but not grape). They also provide additional discounts when you repeatedly buy their cylinders. We bought the machine a year ago - and it has already paid for itself in money and in reduction of waste.

I bought a Soda Stream. I then bought this Drinkmate and gave the Soda Stream away.
I first bought a Soda Stream. If you want to make carbonated water, they are great. And that is the only instance when they are great. They carbonate water, period. If you drink alcohol with seltzer, the Soda Stream would be a great machine to have.Because I owned the Soda Stream and just wasn't finding any combination of carbonated water and flavoring that was worth making, I found myself in a group of carbonator enthusiasts. When looking for a way to make the Soda Stream useful, I ran into posts about the Drinkmate and how it can carbonate just about any liquid in existence. Don't ever do this!! But, you might be able to carbonate motor oil. I don't know why you would, but the Drinkmate 'might' be able to do it (don't try it!!).With the idea that I could carbonate drinks other than just water, I finally caved and ordered one. Yes, it cost significantly more than a Soda Stream. But oh my gosh!! I have found my love.It really does carbonate everything. If you want the most delicious sparkling apple cider you will ever taste, get a Drinkmate, buy a quality apple cider, and be amazed!! If you want to try carbonating everything you can think of, try a Drinkmate. I expect it would carbonate milk. I just haven't been brave enough to try it.My absolute favorite drink to make with the Drinkmate starts with Kerns Guava Nectar. I fill the bottle from 1/4 to 1/3 full of the nectar and top it off with cold filtered water. I then carbonate it. For my tastes, it is divine!! Doing the same thing with pineapple juice isn't bad either if you just remind yourself that you carbonated it and that it isn't pineapple juice that has fermented. Usually I toss pineapple juice if it tingles when I drink it, but I like it when it was purposely carbonated.Everyone has their own tastes. The fun is that with a Drinkmate, you can explore those tastes and possibly find your "divine".Note that not all things are equal. Not all liquids are equal. First, the liquids need to be cold to work best. Be warned, that some liquids foam up a LOT. And some hardly foam at all. All that means is that you need to pay close attention when you first carbonate some new liquid. If it foams like an active volcano, just let it sit longer before you try to remove the 'carbonator'. Guava nectar isn't bad. It will foam if I remove the pressure immediately, but it is fine after a minute or two.Their blurb says that you can re-carbonize beer. I believe that would be true. However, to carbonate any liquid, the bottle must be filled enough that the carbonator nozzle in submerged in the liquid. The smallest bottle I have found needs at least 12 ounces (preferably more) for the nozzle to be deep enough in the liquid to work. How often in your life have you opened a 12 ounce beer then let it just sit out overnight so that it needs re-carbonating? If you are doing that, you're popping tabs when you are way too drunk to be doing so. Go to bed!I wish they made a bottle half the size of the quart bottle. And, you can CARBONATE JUST PLAIN WATER with it if you want too!! :)

Easy to set up, fun to use
I bought this because I’ve been having trouble finding sparkling water I like. I like really soft bubbles (not flat, just light) and this guy does such a good job I still haven’t found my ideal. This is _carbonated_ water. It feels like a can of pop if you use their suggested amount of CO2 in the half-size bottle. I’ve only tried filtered tap water. I’m going to get some flavoring and try that next. Plain, it tastes like any other carbonated water. The unit itself is pretty compact and weighs virtually nothing: the heft is just the canister itself. It’s beyond easy to start. Screw in the CO2 canister, fill the drink bottle and put it on the machine. You can tell it has clicked in place. Push the button on top and watch it go foooff! Pull the bottle out to a 45° angle and slide out. Swirl a little to distribute the CO2. Done! Release the pressure, open, and enjoy. The included bottles seal well and hold the carbonation for several hours. I haven’t managed to drink it slow enough to test it further :D The canister is supposed to average 60 liters worth of water. I think it will pay for itself pretty quickly and no more single-use bottles!

Fun with bubbles
Love to make it bubbles. You can make it all. We have had it for over a yr and it works great. The Co2 3pk is the best deal.

No More Pop!
Bought the Drinkmate based upon the pros/cons, specifically the ability to adjust the CO2 for any drink. I bought the red Drinkmate with 3 cylinders and bottom line, I love it. I went from dehydrated (2 Diet Pepsi/day and maybe coffee) to drinking about a gallon of seltzer water per day. No more soda for me. The Drinkmate has me drinking water and feeling so much better. I love the "burn" at the back of the throat from the seltzer and it is so refreshing. The bubbles last more than 24 hours in an unsealed container so it definitely works. The cylinder lasted about 10 days, but again, I was running right around a gallon/day through it. I haven't shipped the cylinders back yet but it appears to be easy enough based on the instructions. The Drinkmate is sturdy enough, no electricity needed. Just stick the cylinder in the back and turn until hand tight. Put water (or whatever drink) in the bottle, screw on the charge cap and slip into the Drinkmate. Tap on the top to add as much Co2 as you want, then discharge any excess gas by pressing the cap on the bottle and start drinking. Highly recommend and the only Con is the cost of the CO2 cylinders. Pricey but better than the small cartridges.
