Good case, bad***->good screen protector
***UPDATE 8/23/2021: I got a call out of the blue from Alpatronix customer support--like I just saw I was getting called by an 888 number and was like "what the hell" and answered. They were really friendly and I expected them to mention my review or something about how they might be able to get me to change it (even though it was not a bad review). They didn't do that at all, they just asked how things were going with the case. I said I had some slight issues, namely that the screen protector didn't fit and there was this weird issue with charging where it would randomly connect/disconnect over and over. The guy told me to take my phone out of the case, make sure the case is unplugged from everything, and then hold down the case's power button for 15 seconds. I tried it, plugged it into the charger, and boom, it was working properly again. Dunno what kind of wizardry... but I'm not mad. It's been almost 5 days and it's still working perfectly. Then he said that they had an issue with the first few shipments of cases going out with screen protectors that were too big. He said he'd email me, have me confirm my address, and send me a new one, totally free of charge. He did, I did, and they did. The new protector is probably not custom made for the case--there are gaps around the edges. But they're tiny, and it is 100% functional. Plus my screen is now protected. All in all, yes, it was inconvenient to deal with those two issues for so long. However, it seems I could've reached out to them at any time to get them resolved, and they even took the initiative to randomly reach out to me to offer help. I raised this review from 4 to 5 stars. I'm not sure how much more people could possibly want.Positive stuff first, the reason I took off a star after.Alright, I'll say immediately that it's a solid design improvement over their iPhone 8 case. The version of that one that I ordered when I first got my 8 had those really thin plastic button covers and bits of plastic framing the volume and power buttons. Those broke easily within the first few weeks and left cracked plastic around the buttons forever. It sucked. The rest of that case was great, though, and I decided to stick with Alpatronix because of it. The big kicker for me was the two year warranty. They stood by it when the battery had some weird malfunction and sent me a whole new case.Enough about the iPhone 8 case. This iPhone 12 case is much better. The button covers are made of a hard rubber material, and there are no thin areas except around the ringer switch. I don't think it'll ever break. I'm also a huge fan of how the phone is inserted and removed from the case. There are zero small, delicate pieces that need to be connected. It's a single piece made of seemingly durable material. Speaking of the material, it seems very shock-resistant. Like I said, it's sort of a hard rubber, which is better than a super soft rubber for toughness reasons, and better than straight plastic for impacts. Probably. What do you want me to do, throw my phone at the ground? I'll update if I ever drop it and crack something. Anyway, some people mention that the buttons are hard to press. That's fairly true. There's basically no more tactile feedback, you just squeeze over the button and wait until it does what you want. It's not a huge deal to me. I'd rather the case be sturdy than the buttons be clicky. The battery life and Qi charging are yet to be tested, though I don't tend to use Qi charging. It just heats stuff up if you miss the placement mark and I don't like the idea of super hot batteries.Other observations:I can hear music great through the case.I like the switch to the lightning plug from the micro USB on the 8.The camera is well protected. The rubber around it is raised slightly over it, plus the battery blocks most things on a flat surface from ever touching it.It's a bit hefty but I'm used to it from the other case.My one major disappointment is the screen protector. Like some others have mentioned, the one that comes with the case doesn't fit when you have the case on. As in it's slightly too wide and gets stuck on the edges of the case that come up over the side of the screen. So it never really settles, and the corners and edges are always lifted up. When you push a button, the edge closest to the button lifts up. I would take a picture but, you know, it's on my phone. A mirror maybe? Too much effort. The screen protector was really just a bonus, but it would be cool if they could test out the other supplier options available to them to find one that actually works for their case. And maybe send me one ;) (they did!)Anyway, that's all I've got.UPDATE 3/14/2021 (so like 3 months?): I've noticed a weird thing where, if you plug in the phone to an Apple brand lightning cable, sometimes it'll sit there and stop charging/start charging the phone intermittently. So like while I'm trying to sleep it'll just sit there and buzz over and over again to say "Charging". It's kind of annoying. It can be solved at the moment by just unplugging and re-plugging, but I'm kinda sketched out. Hopefully it doesn't get worse.

Much improved from last generation; Great case & strong battery with few issues!
I previously purchased an Alpatronix case for my Xr. While it was a durable case with a great battery, that was a two-piece case with more fragile hard buttons that weren't integrated into the case, causing long-term durability issues. Alpatronix knocked it out of the park with this case, fixing any previous design flaws to make a stand-out case. This is a one piece design with rubberized integrated buttons, creating no concerns for long-term durability. The phone case itself adds a bit of heft and bulk, but that's to be expected on a phone that's already pretty darn large. The case does not prevent the phone being put in jeans/shorts/pants pockets. Otherwise the additional battery is a godsend because the 5G-hungry12 Pro Max eats up a lot of battery with normal use throughout the day. I appreciate the Alpatronix case charging my phone from 25% to 50% in about 20 minutes. I can certainly get another full 100% charge out of this case. I appreciate the wireless charging capability of this phone as well; it works great on my wireless pad both in my office and in my car. The only downside I can find is that the phone has Carplay connectivity issues when plugging into a cable in a car; the passthrough keeps disconnecting Carplay only seconds after it activates. However, because I rarely use the cable, it doesn't really affect me. Overall, I'm impressed in Alpatronix's commitment to improve past iterations and I'm very glad that I got this case!

So so very slow to charge
Purchased to extend the life of my aging phone until Apple decides to make meaningful upgrades to the iPhone (although USB-C was tempting).As others have stated, the case is light…too light to actually have the advertised charging power. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to weigh a similarly sized power bank to see the capacity has been over-stated for this product. This was confirmed quickly when I actually went to use it to charge my phone.The case will roughly double your phone thickness for about 2/3 of the case. If you’re barely able to hold your phone with one hand now, forget it with this case. This isn’t really a knock on the case; after all it’s a large phone and adding a battery will add thickness but…Unfortunately the back is completely smooth making it difficult to grip. It has a strip of silicone or rubber around the actual phone which has a nice feel and is grippy. Pretty much what you would expect for a standard bumper case. It’s unfortunate they didn’t carry this material across the back or put a square of it or strips or something. If your hand won’t fully wrap around the entire phone, you’ll be in trouble.The buttons are easy to use and responsive.As someone with large hands, I could live with it except….it takes 3-4 hours to charge to full and seems to only provide around 30% extra power even if the phone is not being used. I’ve tried different charges but the results are all extremely slow. I typically use a USB-C to lightning adapter and can charge my phone to 80% in around 30 minutes.If you’ve been looking you most likely noted there are really on 2-3 options available with different random names. I’d try one of the other generic types first.
