NOT fond of time travel, but still better than I expected
This was a strange story from the beginning, but I still liked that the main character was given a second chance at life and was gifted with such an important secret. The main problem was the fact that she had to figure out what was going on in the castle, herself, with no clues given. The characters are richly endowed, easily beloved, and quite intelligent. The plot is straightforward and the premise is finding out if her new home is indeed haunted or was there another explanation. I definitely recommend this story, especially if you are fond of time travel stories.

I liked the story, but
The story itself is good. Unfortunately, the author doesn't know much about certain aspects of overseas moves or the UK vocabulary. I was a missionary and lived in three different countries. When you move overseas, you do it by a shipment in which your belongings go in a crate, either by sea or air freight. You need to go through Customs to get your shipment, and you need your passport to get them. You certainly don't send everything through the post office. In the UK, a flashlight is called a torch, and cookies are called biscuits. I learned these terms as a child reading books from the UK. There were very few grammatical mistakes, chiefly the use of " may" instead of "might", but it occurred three times. The heroine, with a doctorate, says " yep" instead of "yes", and acts rather childish. In fact, I checked to see if this was written for children, but there were no children in the story. The book just needed basic editing.

Nice new series
Fun read. Good characters. I think Cate and Jake have some fun ahead of them. Can’t wait to find all the time periods they will visit.

Great introduction to the series!
I found this storyline a bit different from most mysteries as it was about Cate and her strong character. The sequence of events developed very smoothly and there were not lots of characters the reader had to remember. Will continue reading series for sure.
