US Elite Forces: Uniforms, Equipment & Personal Items. Vietnam 1965-1975

Pros:The pictures are well done and it covers a niche subject. Quick overview of uniforms and equipment. Well bound book as Andrea Press does a nice job in quality. The author has a great collection albeit more so that he does not live in the US where the artifacts are easier to acquire.Comparable to "Grunt" by A. Arques, perhaps several of the same photos where used in each book?Cons: Not much information, text is limited and there are minor translation errors here and there. There are several areas where text would have been helpful in narration of photos. For example, on page 234 photo evidence of artifact in use in theater would support claim or vet who had items. I was disappointed I paid $52 dollars (US) for it though.The books by Paul W Miraldi offer more insight into this subject matter and should be considered.

Still looking for reviews on another few groups that also served in the Vietnam Theater.

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend. It was described as an accompaniment to "Grunt". The problem is that it's just a rehash of Grunt.Most of the Special forces equipment just isn't shown.... For example there is no reference at all to the HOT/WET survival set one of the quintessential bits of SF kit in the Vietnam war. There is how ever plenty of reference to items that any soldier might have in his kit.I paid £25 and sold it on. It's just not worth the money.The only plus side is the photo's of which there are plenty...just not of the right stuff!

Beim Wort Elite denkt man in erster Linie an die Kämpfer aus dem Nichts - den SEALs, oder dem sagenumwobenene US Marine Corps. Man liest sehr oft nur über vergangene Einsätze und verwegene Operationen im Rücken des Gegners sowie den Kampf Mann gegen Mann...aber: Was hatten die Männer bei diesen Einsätzen an Equipment dabei, wie waren Sie ausgerüstet, wie bewaffnet, was haben sie während ihrer Einsätze gegessen...das erfährt man in diesem Buch. Sicherlich das Buch ist in englischer Sprache geschrieben - aber wenn man sich etwas genauer mit der Thematik beschäftigt, ist dies kein Hinderungsgrund...Das an dem Buch eingehend recherchiert und im Vorfeld behutsam ausgewählt wurde, kann man sich denken. In meinen Augen ist dies Must-Have für jeden Militaria-Fan und Interessierten, der sich für diese Einheiten und Ihre Einsätze interessiert. Absolute Kaufempfehlung
