Classic Diamonds With The London Symphony Orchestra

Neil is at his best on this album, strong music and lovely vocals..

I never thought anything could make Neil Diamond better but the London Symphony adds a richer sound!

There's a show every Sunday on PBS called the crooners, basically a bunch of songs being performed by various artists. I never miss it, and it's led me to some amazing productions. So I heard someone on this singing "I'm a Believer ", yes, same song sung by the monkees, Neil Diamond, etc. This was Neil Diamond, although I barely recognized him. Singing with the London symphony Orchestra. Which gave this pop song a gravitas I had never heard before. So I ordered the C.D ( yes There's a C.D).A collection of Diamond songs, backed up by the London symphony Orchestra. All of his classics are there, presented in a way you never heard them before. Best 12 bucks I ever spent. You can't go wrong buying this odd but beautiful mixture. Like chocolate milk and cinnamon rolls. A must have

Oldies for my mom. She loves it.

I love the passion that Neil puts into his music. Each song stands alone and when the audience recognize which song it is, they respond enthusiastically!

We both (my daughter (age 50+) and I loved this CD but had one problem. Neil's voice was drowned out several times by the orchestra. More so in the early tracks. But several times we both at the same time said that his voice was way over-powered by the orchestra! We did like to hear Stevie Wonder on the harmonica! That was a bonus sound! I fault the sound engineer, who didn't catch the overpowering orchestra that made Neil sound like he was miles away!We thought that he "talked" it MORE not less than in the past. I know Frank Sinatra as he aged talked the lines and didn't hold notes so long as was strictly written. BUT Neil's voice was his wonderful old self! Neil's music will be around a long long time to come!Just proves " DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER!!!! " LOL!!!

This is Neil with a full orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra. The sound is lush and beautiful and Neil is simply Neil, always at his best.

Je suis une de vos fans depuis très longtemps : il me semble avoir dansé sur « I Am, I said » en Espagne lorsque j’avais 20 ans. Vous êtes remarquable à tous points de vue : un talent hors pair, une voix inoubliable (Baryton, je crois) et votre regard incroyable qui peut passer de « œil de Lynx », à « œil de velours », et avec votre sourire, c’est le bouquet !. Aujourd'hui, je vous écoute et vous regarde toujours sur mes CD et DVD avec le même intérêt. Vous êtes inimitable, et je vous admire, vraiment. J'espère que vos problèmes de santé ne vous empêche pas de vivre normalement."Voilà, de la part de Roselyne, une "petite" Française de 74 ans, avec tout mon respect et mon admiration au Génie que vous êtes. Splendida raccolta del grande Neil Diamond

I was a little sceptical when I first heard about this release and like most Diamondheads I was hoping for a new album of original material, but unlike most albums that fall into the genre of being backed by a symphony orchestra which rely on the originally recorded vocals, Neil has recorded brand new vocals and some of the arrangements differ considerably from the original recordings. Most notably for me are the intros to Beautiful Noise & Hello Again, a distinct re working of I Am Said I Said, the Middle Eastern feel to Holly Holy and a simply majestic I've Been This Way Before. America too is a stand out. If there is a slight criticism then the second half of the album could do with the injection of a couple of more up-tempo numbers, but for the most part this is a wonderful record which inspires and moves you at the same time.
