Very good heater, cost efficient and designed with human use in mind.
I have used a cheap little shin height halogen heater for years and thought it's time to try something new. (halogen light hurts my eyes and only 1 bulb was still working, most of you probably know the kind of heater I mean) THIS 1kw carbon element heater is SO MUCH BETTER! It is very low noise, beyond the odd click and creak as the heated parts expand, it's fair to say it is silent. The oscillation has a minor ticking noise associated, no more or less than you would be familiar with. At the level "low" it draws about 475W (smart meter estimated reading) and puts out enough heat to rival 2bars on a halogen (honest opinion, as it covers a larger area) On the level "high" the heat is STRONG and draws about 975W, you can sit on your lounge sofa, a good 1.5 meters away from this heater and get a full body heat applied. I mostly keep mine on "Low" and never feel the need to increase power. Because.... The design is a huge positive!!! not only does it look nice and sleek, the element is mounted vertically and covers a full 45cm (18") of heated space (full cover on both "low" and "high") As mentioned, halogen bulb light hurts my eyes, this does not have such an effect. like any light source, don't look directly at it.. but having it facing you isn't going to cause eye discomfort as far as I noticed. (If you're shoving your face up close, you only have yourself to blame for any baked eyeball sensations) It is light and well balanced, with an easy to hold handle on the back if you need to move while still hot. Has a safety cut off that trips when lifted or tilted. Oscillation feature is handy to span ~70⁰ of space (as you would expect, it heats best what it is directly facing) On top of it being a great product, the manufacture offers an extended 2yr warranty when registered. Will update review should I ever need to use. So I highly recommend as a low cost heater.

A good design and instant heat
An excellent heater that gives you instant heat. This is a good design, easy to assemble, looks smart, easy controls, you can feel the heat beam from quite a distance, quite economical too, nice heater.

Brilliant infrared heater.
This is an excellent infrared heater at a very reasonable price. I have taken a star off as not the most sturdiest of builds and feels a little wobbly. But on the upside using the inbuilt carry handle at the top of the unit makes it very easy to move around a house or room. The fact that it can swivel is a bonus but due to its slightly unsteady stance I keep it in its “fixed” directional state. Fantastic that it has a Low power and well as High power setting. I have tested this unit myself and on High Power which gives a surprisingly strong and directional heat it uses just under 1.0 kW of energy. On Low power it uses around 0.4-0.5kW. So CHEAP to run and still gives off a lovely heat to a distance of around 4-6 feet. The swivel function means it uses a little more energy but this is minimal. (0.48kW instead of 0.4kW) and the low power setting is more than enough to keep a person warm albeit on one side of the body if the heater is on that side! And therefore makes it a very cheap heater to run compared to a conventional fan heater or even an oil filled radiator. It does however give enough heat to gradually warm a small room up like my wife’s study. When you do lift the heater when On, it has a drop switch which immediately turns the unit off for safety. The actual filament and grill get very very hot so not ideal too use this around small children (or inquisitive pets?). The socket cable is about 1.5m long which is typical for most home heating equipment which can limit its positioning in a room but on its lower power setting I think this would be safe when plugged in to a suitable extension lead unlike other heating equipment like an oil filled radiator (1-2.5kW+) or fan heater (2kW+) which use a lot more electricity and thus more power and and therefore are at more risk of overheating such an extension lead.

I'm getting a second one for another room
Great for heating people and furnishings in a large draughty room. Central heating has no chance as any warm air gets stuck up by the ceiling. After a few hours with this the room temperature does rise as well though. Quicker to warm you than a oil-filled radiator. You might feel grilled if you sit too close but the cat seems to like that sensation. A bit wobbly but cuts out when moved or toppled for safety. Oscillation is quiet. Not too pricey to run. I'm going to get a second one for another room. The cable not being super long is my only peeve.

A Hot Recommendation
I run this at 500w and it's been up against other products that also emit heat at the same wattage such as an oil radiator and convection heater. The oil radiator only increased the temperature of the room by 1c, and the convection heater by 2-3c. This product? It takes the lead with a 5c increase! What I can personally attest to is that this heater is unbeaten in performance per watt. Running at its lowest setting of 500w, it is able to increase the temperate of my medium sized bedroom from 16c to 21c (with its door open, sharing air space with a 2nd bedroom and also a bathroom). You would generally have no reason to run this at the full 1000w in my opinion, but do know you're getting the best bang for your buck if you are. My only complaint is that it's a tad flimsy on its stand, but that won't be a problem as long as nothing is bumping into it.

I had to buy and fit an Australian plug plus assemble the bottom. This heater is very wobbly, this would not be good if you have children under 10 and could cause serious burns. Very disappointed with this item, too much trouble to send it back. If I had purchased it from a local supplier it would have gone straight back.
