Very timely device, works very well.
Excellent product. Finally you can connect your old speakers and the amp to a wifi network and pipe music from your phone, once the app associated with this device is downloaded to it. The app works quite well. The quality of sound is very good.Connecting the device to the old speakers and amp was reasonably easy, but be warned that for some speakers and amps you may need RCA cables. The device does not come with a charger and it is assumed that you will have a usb charger or a charger that came with a phone; I use a Samung Phone so was easy to find one as it has the same USB connection. The instruction for the device are reasonable, but on of the picture looks nothing like this device. Nevertheless, it was easy connecting it to my wifi network. Now I can move about the house, wherever I have a wifi signal, and have music piped to the connected speakers in whichever room, also within reach of the wife network. I had been waiting for for a device like this, as I found Bluetooth speakers modules to restrictive in their range.Very happy I purchased this product.

Trash with spyware built in
Cannot connect to home Wi-Fi. Direct wifi connection (device works as a hotspot) is not helpful. Connection via Ethernet works. However, as other reviewers pointed out, this device has plenty of open ports to accept incoming connections and it also calls home to China. Also, this is AirPlay 1 with no ability for firmware upgrade. Returning.

Overall good performance on airplay and great value. And a few vexing features
It connects and streams from Airplay well. I use 2 of these on traditional amps & speakers I've had for a long time. I can stream from itunes on a PC. and I can get sound from the PC and both amps at the same time. The pyles are fairly easy to set up. I'm glad I got them, as a great value alternative to replacing my entire audio set up for something more expensive like Sonos,Vexing features- No mac address readily on the box or case.. difficult if you want devices like this on a specific IP so you can access its web config pages- No 5ghz, which has better channel separation (though it performs well with its dlink nics @ 2.4)- It always has wifi direct on, even if you associate it with your house's AP. I can WPA2/AES protected with a password though- It always sets its channel to your houses wifi APs channel, flooding the same channel with broadcasts :S- Synced streaming for 2+ pyles using the 'smart sonix' app forces the slave pyles into wifi direct. My pyles are too far apart to support it + see previous comment

Solution for AirPlay to Sonos
This worked just as I had hoped. I needed a way to occasionally beam podcasts from my iPhone to my Sonos system. The Pyle device acts as an AirpPlay receiver. I connected it directly to a Sonos Play:5 via Ethernet cable and audio cable via Line In on the Sonos. Works great! Some minor improvements could be made in future versions: 1) No indicator light that an active Ethernet cable is plugged in. 2) The power LED light is a very bright white. I'll put a piece of tape over mine. 3) The instructions are very difficult to read and appear to have been written in China. However, it was simple to setup so I figured it out.Note: If your network doesn't pick up the Pyle immediately, disconnect it from power, then plug in Ethernet, and power it up again. That worked for me. (FYI - I did not test the Wi-Fi capabilities of this unit.)

Has some unique features, but also some problems
Bought this for use as an AirPlay receiver to attach to an existing speaker system that was already connected to a TV. Unlike other similar products, this box has both an input and output audio jack. Normally, the audio stream from the input jack will be passed through to the output jack. But when AirPlay (or whatever other method you're using, like the "Smart Sonix" app you can download) is playing something, the input jack will be overriden and your streamed audio will be sent to the output instead. Haven't seen any other box anywhere close to this price point that has this functionality. Another plus is that this has an ethernet jack, so you don't have to rely on wireless for connecting it.If you decide to use its builtin wireless to connect it instead of ethernet, then you have the option of connecting directly to it (it acts as an access point). You can change its SSID and WPA key to whatever you want. You can also have it connect to your existing wireless network.A lot of the capabilities/configuration are undocumented. The easiest way to configure the box is not actually with the "Smart Sonix" app that's promoted, but rather by connecting to the box's IP address from a web browser. If you're connecting to the wireless net it provides, its address will be 10.10.10.254, if you're using it on ethernet or having it connect to your wireless net, then check what your DHCP server assigned to it.Annoyances:* Seems to be no way to disable the builtin wireless entirely, so if you choose to use the ethernet jack, it'll still broadcast its SSID at all times. Furthermore if anyone connects to the wireless while you're using the ethernet jack, they can access your ethernet network and internet connection. Default is for open access on the wireless, so this is a massive security hole by default. Be sure to set a WPA key on the wireless if you're using the ethernet, and I hope that you're confident about the wireless security on this box, because if anyone breaks it, they have full access to your local net. This needs fixing ASAP really - the wireless needs to be able to be disabled, or the ethernet jack should be removed.* Its wireless can't connect to a wireless network with non-broadcasted SSID.* There's a bright white LED on the back that's lit whenever power is applied. I had to put black tape over it.* Only a mini-USB to USB cable is included, no USB to AC adapter (though they're readily available).* Documentation is atrocious/non-existent.

This little device works really well
This is really a great little device. Took a little bit to set it up. The instructions were not completely accurate but after a little work I was able to get it working. Streams Spotify which is one of the primary apps I wanted to use this for. Connection is really fast and I have it located in an A/V closet and it still has great wifi reception.I wish it would connect and work with iheart radio but to date, I've not figured out how to make that work.
