Perfect!
My 10 year old granddaughter was ecstatic when she received this for her birthday. It's easy to use, lightweight, sturdy, adjustable length and waterproof. No treasures found yet, but she's working on it!

“Best Metal Detector in the World” according to my 8 year old son.
I picked up the hobby early last year with a Simplex, and upgraded to a Legend in September (because I mostly hunt a beach in the summer). My 8 year old almost always comes with me but has a hard time swinging the Simplex. I bought this for him for Christmas. Our first time out with it, we went to a local basketball court that is very trashy. My son was able to fully operate the detector completely himself. In about 45 minutes he had 3 finds. They were all coins. He ignored any iron signals (the midi shows 3 icons for low/iron, mid and high) he even figured out how to notch out the iron signals completely. He was able to use every feature from the different color LEDs, the sounds, the visual indicators, depth guide and notching. He said he feels like a real metal detectorist now and this is the best meta detector in the world. I was hesitant because the price of the MIDI is a little more than half of a simplex, but for someone his size and experience, I think it was completely worth it for this detector. Being waterproof is a huge plus. We’ll have to see how it goes on the beach this summer.

Great starter for little kids
My 5 year old loves his. It's the perfect height for him and it's very easy to use. Can't wait to try it in the beach.

Superb!
Perfect for the kiddo. Not a cheapo detector that breaks at the stem. Battery lasts a long time and it’s prettt lightweight for the kiddo. My son has been using this for a few years now and loves it. Being able to discriminate out iron and even most aluminum is awesome. He has found many buttons, silver coins, spoons, locks, hinges, you name it. I wouldn’t settle for anything less than this nokta. If your kid is interested in metal detecting, encourage it and go for this detector. The only problem is I have a nokta as well and the interference starts at about 15 yards apart. Even if I swap frequencies it’s still there. But this one is easier to just turn off and back on if he needs help with digging or trying to identify something. This nokta is by far the best one out there for kids learning it.

Fantastic detector
This came recommended as an entry level detector for my 10 year old son over and over again from metal detecting clubs. This was a huge hit for Christmas. Sturdy, crazy accurate and wow I won Christmas with this. It never ever went on sale (yes I did watch for like 9 months). That being said it is worth the price. 200% happy with this and would recommend for kids! My son is tall and this works perfectly.

It's okay for a first one
It is durable, fits smaller kids and it is a fun way to introduce them to the hobby.

The kids love this
Make sure you also get a hand held pin pointer to go with this. My kids have had a lot of fun finding random stuff in our yard and throughout the neighborhood. Great for my 8 year old, but a little complex for my 6 year old to understand how to know where the item is.
