Great for ice hiking!
These worked great on a 6 day backpacking trip through the Smokies. Lots of frozen trails and not a slip. Built well and had no issues.

A Must for Icy/Snowy Trail Running!
I'm an avid trail runner and run through all seasons. These EXOspikes make you have no excuse for not going out for a run in the icy/snowy conditions. The sizing chart makes it easy to pick out the size recommended. They are made of durable materials. They are easy to put on and off over your trail shoe or hiking boot. I do recommend putting them over a sturdier shoe though. It just makes for a more comfortable running experience. I wear mine whenever there may be some ice lurking under some freshly fallen snow. I then have no reservations about traversing such conditions. I have even run on a frozen lake and had no slipping issues. They also have a great Customer Service department. I did have a slight issue with a different pair of the Kahtoola MICROspikes. One of the rubber parts got a slight tear in it from only of few wears. I called their Customer Service, explained my issue, and they sent me a replacement spike at no cost to me! They are definitely worth the price and I highly suggest adding them to your winter running gear.

Excellent traction on ice and packed snow
I have only completed one run, but I'm very happy with the Kahtoola ExoSpikes so far. I am a trail runner in Northern Ohio. We get lots of snow and frequent freeze-thaw-freeze cycles. I am usually able to find enough traction on the trails and haven't felt the need for additional traction devices. That changed last weekend. A friend and I were out on an 12 mile run and most of the trail was icy with a dusting of new snow on top. We managed pretty well, but it was dangerous and exhausting. Conditions for this weekend looked similar, so I researched the options and chose these spikes. We ran another 12 miles this morning and I am sold! The trails were in better condition today. They were packed snow, with some icy patches; so not as challenging as last week. I had fantastic traction at all times and hardly noticed the spikes as long as I was off-road. I experienced zero slipping going up hills and confidently ran down hills. It was a much better experience than my earlier runs this week (same conditions, but without spikes). We had a short road section and they were obviously noisy and out-of-place there, but that is to be expected. They go on and off very easily. The product insert recommends going up a size if you plan to use them on boots. I would add shoes with a large midsole to this recommendation. I have size Large and they fit my size 11.5 Hoka Challenger ATR shoes. I feel like they would be easier to put on in a larger size. They hold securely and showed no sign of slippage. My running partner noted that they go on and off easier than the other big brand that he had previously. After 12 miles of trail running, they show zero wear and seem like they should last several seasons. Overall I am very pleased with these spikes and look forward to many miles in them.

Perfect ice resistant
I needed these for shoveling my driveway cause it gets pretty icy. This product works perfect. Kept me Balance throughout shoveling. My driveway. Grip was good. I would highly recommend.

These are a life saver
I am only using these spikes around my house, but I had significant ice build up this year which made walking on my driveway and out to my bird feeders an adventure to be sure. These are a life saver. They worked very well and I did not slide at all. I had to return for a bigger size as the smaller size would not go over the boots I wanted to use outside. I am thinking if you are close to the top range within the Exo Spike size, I would go to the next larger size, depending on the shoes/boots you wanted to use. I wanted to use them on boots with a lug sole which meant I needed a bit longer length to go over the sole. The right size is pretty easy to put on/take off. Stay safe!

Sized very small
I have used the Microspikes for many years and they are my gold standard. I bought these for conditions where there are trail sections of ice and sections of dirt because they seemed less aggressive and more suitable for dirt/rock conditions. I have worn them four times.First and most importantly is the size problem. I wear a size 12 boot. The XL Microspikes fit great and easy to put on the regular hikers and heavier insulated winter boots. These Exospikes in XL only fit my size 12 boots after a big struggle in my living room sitting down. I left them on my boots for a few days to hopefully stretch them out a bit. This helped putting them on again. However, when trying to put them on during a hike, when they are cold and less stretchable, another struggle and I had to sit. So if you wear a boot greater than a 12, forget about getting these on. Come on Kahtoola, you need to made these in XXL. I keep them stored at home on the boots for continued stretching.Performance on ice was great. They dug in well and I had no slippage. I don't know how they compare to the Microspikes, which would still be my go to traction devices in severe steep icy trails without patches of dirt. They weight about one half as much as Microspikes.Durability I guess would be marginal given that the bottom is made out of a plastic type of material rather than stainless steel chain (Microspikes), particularly if they are worn a lot on dirt/rock sections. With these concerns, I would still recommend them for spotty ice/dirt conditions. Even if I only get one or two seasons use, it is still much cheaper than a broken wrist or hip. I don't recommend them if you wear a boot or shoe size greater than 12.
